    Its £20k now.
I hope he can move on with his life. I am pretty sure the decent NE public will look after Alan now.

Let's hope so.. Me and my lad watched the news in absolute disbelief last night.

I hope Alan doesn't lose faith in humanity... Even though I'm starting to!!!

Sick to the stomach... SCUM !!

****, was sitting having a pint with our boy a few hours back and glanced at the tele not knowing the story behind it. Didn't know what had happened until iv'e read this. What kind of cowardly low life **** would even contemplate attacking this poor bloke, should be lowered slowly into a vat of boiling tar after glass dust had been blown into his eyes.

Just on the way back from the game it said on the radio this is at £120k now, what a fantastic bit of news for the fella.

Hopefully he can use the cash to buy a home somewhere he feels much safer.

He was talking about moving in with sister and family, maybe they can build an extension to give him some privacy AND safety. Restores some faith does this

If he lives alone now he will never feel fully safe so it will have affected him whatever - the scum sucking **** beetle that did this needs to know that if he is ever found he can probably expect a lot of hurt

TBH mate, that sounds great in theory but I've been vilified, all my life, for dishing out 'justice' to people like this ....... there's always some tree-hugger who bleats that 'two wrongs don't make a right,' or some copper/magistrate who says you 'shouldn't take the law into your own hands'.

In the pit village I grew up in people rarely called the police, matters like this were dealt with 'in house' and things were better for it imo <ok>

The fund to help this guy last I saw was over £200,000. So you see no matter what the news and papers are full of there are far more good people than bad.

Far too many people phone the police over absolutely trivial ****. Something on Facebook. Someone parked across their drive etc.
