Just seen the runners for the Scilly Isle Novices chase. Very interesting field and hard to find the winner. Champagne West was 2nd to Ptit Zig over this distance who has shown the best form over 2m 4f so far this season, although not his ideal distance that is a solid marker. Splash Of Ginge won a hot handicap easy enough off a mark of 145 and is still improving. Irish Saint is still pretty unexposed but was not shamed when 3rd behind Vibrato Valtat over 2miles here and stepped up in trip and won easily over this distance next time out. Personally im siding with Irish Saint here, the Nicholls string have been firing in the winners every Saturday for the last few months, has won at the track at the course and has plenty of improvement still to come. Champagne West ideally wants 3 miles and Splash of Ginge throws in a wobbler now and then although has plenty of ability.
Does anybody know why Bristol De Mai isnt in the supreme market, peace and co is in there and even karezak is as well, just wondering if theres a specific reason that i dont know about. Thanks
I think Munir & Co are going to have an all-out assault on the novice hurdle races, they have so many good ones. For what its worth, I think Bristol De Mai is the best of the lot and I think he'll show that at Sandown
I hope so Oddy, he oozed class on his British debut and they have put him up against novices this time round, both of whom are no slouches. If he wins this surely he goes to the front of the Triumph market?
agreed, i was so impressed by him at chepstow and thought if he beats his elders tomorrow peace and co would go for the triumph and maybe bristol de mai would go for the supreme, ive realised hes not even entered in the supreme though so thats not going to happen
They may well go Bristol for the Triumph and Peace & Co somewhere else? I haven't been that impressed with Peace & Co to be honest, but I assume he is the one Henderson will send to the Adonis. Is one of them Fred Winter bound?
Both too good for FW. Both in Triumph if Bristol wins tomorrow. Not sure he will. Old imperial colours for me tomorrow. Let the good memories roll
Nass is this the race that Mr Henderson used to send Binocular to? I think so ......... Lovely card at Musselburgh on Sunday I'll be disappointed if Bristol De Mai doesn't beat these at the weights - Garde La Victoire is an admirable handicapper but Jollyallan is a ****ing ropey jumper.
Isnt there a ceiling of 140 for the Fred Winter? Don't quote me on that! Binocular won it twice odddy. Proper racing day tomorrow. The Don and I are off to the gallops and then on to Sandown. Not got a clue what to back except I quite like Mr Grey.
Oddly, my concern is that Bristol may have been only horse to truly handle conditions last time and could be flattered. Garde is a very classy horse who will make it a proper test.
Would love to see Puffin Billy back to winning tomorrow over hurdles surely has the pick of the form! His heavy fall last time may show a lack of confiedence and this looks a step back to his chasing. Likewise Williams Wishes looks very well in on his chasing form but has something to prove a little with that all in my mind I like the pipe horse VIRTUAL D'OUDON won lto over 3m and if the drop in trip is ok which it should be with ground as it is and I reckon there will be a fast pace wich will suit will be hard to beat
Think its just a couple of pounds too high in the weights Chan. I really like the look of Lucy Wadham's three runners though, all look to have chances of sorts and will be hoping to get the heads up on them!
Champagne West looks decent value at 5/2 (Sandown 14.25) and William's Wishes worth a little for a place at 16/1 (FFos Las 14.05)
2:25 Sand - GRUMETI 12/1 May not be suited by the step up in trip and has a bit to find with the principles but course form can be important here and I can't ignore that price. 2:40 Ffos Las - LOCH BA 13/2 Returned to form last time - 3rd in that has won since - risen in weights but seems to be fairly handicapped for this slog. 3:00 Sand - ANTEROS 12/1 Geraghty an eye catching booking and has run respectably in decent novices the last twice. 3:35 Sand - AND THE MAN 20/1 Big price after last three non-completions but looked decent last year, is a confirmed mudlark and has a featherweight here. Good luck all!!
I think they all have Irish Saint to beat Has won over 2m here and looked improved for the step up in trip looks a solid fav the only other one I like but won't be touching is splash of Ginge the yard is not firing but potentially has the improvement to win but Irish Saint for me
I'll be in the Champagne tent too ..... I took the 5-2 but don't think it is overly generous. As for William's Wishes .... I'm giving him a chance - by NOT backing him. Oddly enough I hope he wins Comp on it's way Night, night peeps
Fairyhouse 12.50 Clar Na Mionn 12/1 1.20 Witness Of Fashion 12/1 3.40 All The Chimneys 14/1 Sandown 1.50 Arkaim 11/1 2.25 Grumeti 12/1 Lingfield 2.55 Spiritual Star 7/1
Bristol De Mai is one for novice chases next season, be surprised if he runs at Cheltenham this season unless its a bog which is highly unlikely. They have Lami Serge for the Supreme and Peace And Co for the Triumph, both much better candidates for those races and both should win them. Hope Jollyallan does the business and confirms himself a legit rival for Lami Serge.
