I noticed Vertonghen grabbed one of the Sheffield United players round the throat and choked him yesterday. Not a word has been said about that. I imagine it's too much to ask of the FA to be consistent and give him a retrospective ban for violent conduct? Of course it is, he doesn't play for Chelsea.
I agree, it's just the double standards that annoys me. Much more serious or obviously intentional matters go unchecked but because of our profile, the press make a meal of it and the f.a obviously feel pressurised to do something. Very little is done about Hazard getting kicked off the park every week either. I can see why Jose gets annoyed when due to a big media frenzy over alleged diving, suddenly we struggle to get nailed on pens now either. Interesting that Oliver didn't have the nuts to make any serious decisions in the Liverpool game (the pen and 2 x sending offs of Liverpool players inparticular) but now sat in an office can determine Costa meant to stamp on the lad by watching a slo mo of the incident.
Costa's cards marked now unfortunately and the press and pundits will be looking for anything he does now to make a story out of it. Suarez was an absolute rat bag and multiple offender but he was also under the microscope so much more than most players as a result. His own doing mind, much like Costa but it does mean that incidents, pen shouts will be looked at differently to most other players. Just wait till Costa's next game when some centre half is winding him up all game trying to get a reaction...
He can't send off the Liverpool players or give the pen after the game, if he could he would have sent off Luas and gave a peno as well as sending off Costa. Henderson, you are really stretching there tbh But after reviewing the footage he rightly deemed Costa on can was intentional. Jose doesn't even believe this campaign nonsense, and here you are swallowing it up. Blaming the media for Costa's ban is hilarious mate. Thinking it was not intentional is even funnier. How about not stamping on players, that might save him a few missed games. Look on the bright side, at least David Cameron hasn't given his tuppence worth
Very true actually, I posted earlier on our own thread about it that Costa had a measure of control, he could have done damage had he wanted to but didn't. Same as Suarez on Ivanovic actually, he could have bitten his arm off with those gnashers And before that fktard Blueman says it, I am not directly comparing the stamp, stand, to the bite.
in the context of actual violence, Suarez Costa and the like, are nothing. Ben Thatcher topped them both with what he did to Pedro Mendez
Violence comes in all shapes and forms. What Suarez did was more weird than violent and was completely unprovoked.
I never said that Drogs, I said Costa is dirtier, he's worse offender. I am counting his antics in Spain. Costa was even worse before hejoined Atletico and Simeone helped him manage that side and the end result is his game, which is fine as long as you aren't standing on players or loafing them, or biting them for that matter(Suarez) Luis put the odd foot in too.
It was childish, there's no other way to put it, I've seen kids do that. I consider spitting or gob flinging the same as the bite. Disgusting antics.
Why do we constantly have this..."When blah blah did it, you called for his head, now *fart noise* is doing it, you are defending him, that's hypocritical *stupid ****ing smug voice*" Of course we are being hypocritical for ****S SAKE! Because we support that team, so we have a god damned bias!! Thats the whole point of supporting a team, because you support them, and want them to be the best etc etc Instead we get point scoring, faux moral outrage and he said, she said ***gishness. If you cannot be a hypocrite when talking football, then when can you be?
Meh, it comes up, we all have a moan and life goes on We did it when Suares was a dick, we do it now when Costa is a dick, someone will do it next week. I will say this, thank god Bartons are rare. I do miss when footy was more physical but it was less skillful too, I'll take skill over physicality all day, but there needs to be a balance I guess
Yeah I know this wasn't particularly unruly or getting nasty, its just the subject matter irks me to no end. Of course we are going to villify Suarez for biting someone, he plays for Liverpool. Of course we going to defend Costa for stamping someone, he plays for Chelsea. It's that cut and dry
