to be fair though anelka won thngs with us. eventually he got it right. I doubt if mario was EVER that good,he seems to be a player who serially relies on his rep. only to get found out everywhere he goes. If its not managers falling out with him, then he's crying about racism and coming from a fellow from the same origin as him, i'm VERY dissapointed after all the noise he made he's come back here and done nonsense as everyone in italy said he would. Can you imagine mario being a central figure in a PL winnig team? or even FA cup? I can't.
I agree and that was kinda my point. Anelka managed to reel in his stupid behaviour and mature both emotionally and as a player, but his early days are quite similar to Mario's and it remains to be seen whether Mario can mature and be a player like that. Right now the evidence suggests he won't.
Not a P.L team no, he just doesn't have the right attitude or application. If you look at the best strikers in the last couple of years in the premier league they all have massive talent but also prepared to deal with the physicality and work rate required for the P.L (Costa, Aguero, Suarez, Rooney etc). These players can have 'bad' games or go through barren runs goals wise but will still give the team something. Mario on a bad day equals effectively being down to 10 men. He'll be in Turkey within the next couple of years.
I've no complaints mate, was a very good game of football for a 1 0 scoreline. No issue with the outcome either, think you guys deserved to go through over the two legs, not by much though. I'm actually upbeat about the two performances and desperate for us to get a decent striker, other than Sturridge we have nothing else, Sterling just ain't that type of player at the moment. Had Dowd been the ref instead of the 4th official, at least two players would have been sent off imo and the game ruined as a spectacle, which two is anybody's guess
Twas, there are not that many games that get the blood up and that was certainly one of those. Just glad we could make a contest out of it. Jose's comic afterthoughts on Costa and Rodgers just add to the entertainment.
Costa.. twice Nah, Costa and Lucas would def had taken early showers had Dowd been reffing, I think he'd have given Henderson a free pass. Don't get the pundits ****ing over Curtois last night, I mean, great keeper, but the two saves were bog standard, in fact he made a mistake on both and was lucky the shots were straight at him. With Moreno's shot Curtois went down when he should have stayed big and luckily for him moreno didn't just lift it over him, and with Coutinho's shot Curtois went the wrong way and luckily again, the shot was a legs length away for him to throw a foot at. Not taking anything away from the kid, he's very good, just taking the mick out of the bollocks the pundits were spouting
Think these games summed up Mourinho's strengths and our issue (lack of striker). Very pleased we matched you over two games. Sturridge fit and we could've won, certainly at Anfield. A real pity that officiating is again the talking point. How Costa was still on the pitch even by half-time I don't know. Disgraceful - hopefully he's treated just like Suarez was. How long would you ban him for? 5 games? More?
Unless you can establish clear intent, difficult to ban him at all. If you look at the stamp Aguero did on Luiz in the fa cup semi final (City Chelsea) a couple of years back as a marker, he didn't get a retrospective ban and that was much more blatant.
Think both were pretty clear really. Can't believe Dowd (fourth official) didn't see the first one. But yes that Aguero one was bad - his personality might have got him off... the FA react to media pressure.
just watched the Can 'stamp' i always thought a stamp was when you brought your foot down with force, like stamping on another kids foot in the play ground, if that even hurt Can i would be very surprised, far more chance of being hurt in a fair tackle. it was a niggly wind up, hardly violent conduct and you see much worse go unpunished all the time. yet again chelsea getting picked on.
it does seem that way at the moment, the press do seem ready to jump on every little thing, a bit like costa, (before any one else says it)
The players and manager really don't help themselves sometimes. It would've been pretty ludicrous if they didn't at least charge him.
The press are a;ready to jump on every little thing as long as it's flavour of the month material. and
that wasn't a stamp, that was some sort of ****ing tekken move The ref must have said he seen it. Remember McManaman season before last, ref seen it, he put the player out for months and no ban. #markhalsey
I actually don't think Costa meant to stand on Skrtel. What he did to Can however, was bad and he should rightly be punished for it.
