I too read it and ok Chilco closed it with a threat to him not to start another one - surely threads have been closed without the threat attached as there was nothing over the top about it - go to Newcastle/Sunderland boards Liverpool/ManUtd boards its not a love in and far more inflammatory - over reaction to his post IMO
I don't see the point in closing threads. Unless there is personal abuse.... ie aimed at a single individual.... which can be dealt with by the mods deleting the post and dealing with the poster by personal message.......... then let the thread meander as it will, the only ones posting will be the ones who want to be involved in the thread. Anyone not interested won't even look at it, unless they're bedridden with nothing else to do. All threads eventually dwindle out of sight....... except SB3s thread on here which has been going since the beginning of the season, and nobody seems to be upset with it. And let's face it, scummers and skates - that's what we've been for a few decades now. We don't mind being referred to as skates, just take it in good part, but I do recall Channon coming on to this board and complaining about using the term scummer.......... although he didn't object to us being called skates. It's getting too sterile now and part of the reason some former posters don't bother coming on here anymore.
I agree with most of what you say pm but the stick you say you have received since your decline is really very moderate to what we received in our few seasons in decline especially on the bbc606, I think singing bluerinse posted on average 4 threads a day lol What do you think the point WOOPS, Sometimes people can become blinkered. ITS a bit of banter between sb3 and me OK. Sensitive soul aren't we lol

Thanks for your support lads, as for the only comment I could be pulled up on which was mention of a 'fat German' I did qualify that and said there is nothing wrong with being German or indeed obese, indeed some of my closest friends are infact fat Germans! Oh the irony, I also NEVER mentioned the word Scummer in my thread, as I was trying to behave and was enjoying the banter. I wonder if I can appeal or maybe push Sid to make me a Supermod! I could have a right laugh then!
I think the ban may have been the way SB3 referred to the Southampton owner, otherwise much of it was quite amusing!!!
If it was just the one post.........and for our horse hacking friend that is a feat to be applauded.......surely a brief warning and removal of that post would suffice?........bit harsh considering some of the jibe we have taken

Woah! Not the case! I don't think that labels like that are helpful at all. Personally, I am all for banter but dead against the brainless hatred which leads to the need for "bubbles" and the like. I did make the point that, growing up, I couldn't understand the obvious chip on the shoulder from some Pompey fans and we had no equivalent term of abuse to scummer as to most of us, Pompey were frankly, irrelevant. The decision to ban SB3 from the Saints board was taken a long time ago and it was only a glitch in the new site which undid this. It's not an over-reaction to simply continue a ban already in place. Should the ban be reconsidered? Personal comments about Saints owner didn't exactly help his cause, to be frank.
Er, what? Have you forgotten just how officious the modding on the old 606 was, Meowth? You couldn't say anything! I had a post rejected for using the expression "merchant of doom", presumably because you couldn't call some a merchant! the thing which stopped the fun was the loss of cross-board threads. They were a Mods nightmare but they did get a reaction. Most of the Saints and Pompey fans never venture on each other's boards so never the twain shall meet-and I think that we are the poorer for that.
Channon get the decision reversed, you know it makes sense! What possible harm am I , its just banter and almost everyone enjoys it, my threads have always been responded to in quite some substance, because of a possible provocative but friendly nature, so lets restore it, good old banter, take a close look at the thread there is no malice whatsover in it. Show them how big your balls are Mr Incredible! Whilst you are at it, you could also ask Sid how my appl;ication to be a Supermod is proceeding !.
Well it looks like a life sentence with no chance of parole SB. It's a bit stiff. Even a murderer gets the chance of parole.
