People slating Arry and the club for going in for players that we have no idea if we are interested in at all, most of these rumours are created by either the media or the players agents. Some of these have been dismissed by people at the club, yet I see comments like ‘typical bloody Arry, going in for a has been’ We have enough things that actually happen at the club to moan about without slating them for make believe. I think it’s perfectly reasonable to discuss the merits of players linked and like most that have been mentioned so far dismiss them as not for us but bashing the club seems insane to me. This forum (as a relative noob) doesn’t seem all that bad for it, but some of the comments I have seem on other forums and facebook over the last few days are nothing short of embarrassing.
The problem is this bloody transfer window done for the benefit of Sky and the length of time the window is open. This whole charade should be done and dusted in 2 weeks max then everyone can get on with the normal day to day things and it would stop the month long speculation of journalist (use the term very loosely), bloggers and people with nothing better to do the put mindless speculation up on twitter etc......
Relax there no money left. No one is coming in. The only question is, which teams players will we put in the shop window? Loan after loan after loan after loan. We should be sponsored by bloody Wonga !
good post Tim! There's one qpr forum out there which is really bad for all this slagging the club etc.
Sorry I know this is stating the bleeding obvious but we so badly need to win a game of footy. Our mojo is at a very low ebb at present. We just need something to wax lyrical about for once, come on Rangers I still believe, just...
Perhaps the real problem here with the furore over linked players is that Harry has 'form' - people wouldn't be speculating (and, let's be fair, it is speculation - no-one's saying these reports are fact) if there were not a history of him going after players that he has signed previously and/or big money headline grabbing names. The fact that most of the linked players are either ageing, big money signings or represent a risky gamble is a sincere cause for concern - primarily because we pretty much know that given a blank chequebook Harry would indeed sign the Defoes, Crouchs, Diarras & M'Vilas etc. etc. in heartbeat. The question people appear to be raising is 'how beneficial would this be for the club?' - as I said elsewhere, the short-termism of our (alleged) strategy is alarming, and precisely because Harry has form is the reason why people are worried and are discussing/voicing that concern. It's often repeated that players and managers are temporary - and recent history has seen us rip up the management and coaching structure and start again 3 times firstly with Colin, then Hughes and now Harry. Contrast that with the Southampton model when succession and talent management aims to provide continuity and smooth transition - it's not then surprising to see the contrast in the fortunes of the 2 clubs. There cannot be many Rs fans who are happy with the present situation - do we expect everyone to sit back and blindly watch what is going on without expressing any reservations at all? And let's be clear, player recruitment is a small but very visible part of the malaise - looking at the bigger picture we have a club hierarchy that is reportedly in conflict internally - zero youth policy (until the last week) and an apparently scattergun approach to talent scouting. the fact that other clubs around us are now so much more visibly developed and considered in the way they are run only serves to highlight what (until recently) we knew but were able to ignore as being 'just the way things are' in football.
This for me! I would prefer a much shorter summer only window that shuts a couple of weeks before the start of the new season. This would give the squad a couple of weeks to bed in so to speak, and also give the manager/coach time to know what they have to work with and formulate a game plan and tactics.
Sorry, I dont agree. We (most of us) have lost all faith in HR now and wouldnt trust him and just awaiting another mistake in the transfer market, tactics, negativity or just downright clueless. WE ARE IN FOR 4 MONTHS OF TORTURE under this dinosaur and chairman he has in his pocket..............
Well said Tim, it's de ja vu from the summer, where all the morons were going on about signing old rejects, blah blah blah. People believing every story about some old croc, yet apart from Ferdinand, I seem to remember pretty much everyone was very happy with our signings. But of course, here we are again, trying to make a team gel and because we aren't top of the table as some seem to think we have the right to be, it's off with Harry's head, what a load of **** he's bought, blah blah blah. Look at last season, the most derided player was Henry, look at him this season, in a 2 way battle with Charlie for POTS. And who remembers the days of slating Bobby Zamora (even though he was forced to play with a painful injury), anyone want to slate him now? People need to put our situation in to some perspective and that doesn't just mean our position in the table. Tony, god bless him has tried very hard to do his best for us, unfortunately throwing money at a situation doesn't fix it. Harry did do a good job in the summer with transfers, but the team does still need some tinkering which takes time. It also takes time for players to fit in, only then will you see them at their best. Some might even fail. But the way so many fans are moaning and turning on the team, I see as one of our biggest problems. You support QPR because it's QPR. You don't support them if you are expecting anything other than occasional hi's and the inevitable low's. We for the first time ever! Have a owner willing to spend on the club and give us the things we need to move forward, which will happen over time, but if the fans turn on them before this happens then we truly are doomed. It doesn't matter which league we're in, we're still QPR. It's fine to be pissed off or unhappy, but put a little perspective in to your thoughts and maybe you'll see that even if we do go down, we're still moving in the right direction.
If we get relegated this season as is looking very likely, with FFP penalties awaiting us where we would go, it will take more than a "little perspective" to get me thinking we are moving in the right direction! It is quite possible with a team with our resources to rebuild gradually, at the same time as staying in the PL. Southampton, Stoke and Swansea as we keep hearing are doing it quite well.
Tim if it's embarrassing it's because QPR fans have really had enough of this roadshow. Of course it's embarrassing to be a QPR fan at the moment but lets all look at why that is? Also this is the only QPR forum IMO The FB well …. lets see the club answer some of that after all they encouraged the social media no good ignoring it because it's nasty … The club has to manage that
Happy with that, I have serious issues with the acadamy, the training, strange tactics at times, but some of the stuff I have read having a go at the club and manager for stuff we aren't doing is just mental. QPR is both a wonderful and horrible club, we all know this, i remember the days with people collecting in buckets to save the club, the board being held up at gun point, the Mark Hughes era, etc... I also remember the amazing times, the Dennis Bailey hatrick against Man U, tricky Trevs overhead kick and yes the play off final. I'm not embarressed for supporting the club I love I'm also grateful, Wimbledon (not AFC), Portsmouth to name but 2 have had it a lot worse, I am also grateful I'm not bringing any of my children up supporting the likes of Man U, Chelsea or Liverpool who's fans, to me, seem to have a sense of entitlement. Repeating my main point though we have enough to bash the club with, if that's what you want to do, but no point bashing it with stuff made up by bored journos
Not sure why it's embarrassing to be a QPR fan at the moment. We're exactly where we should be, in the eyes of other clubs fans. It's not as if qpr have been regular high flyers in the prem and now find themselves second from bottom. It's par for the course in my opinion. Nothing embarrassing about that.
We can only begin to move in the right direction once we are rid of Redknapp. Fernandes's statement about focussing on youth is totally at odds with his backing of Redknapp. The only saving grace is that it points to Redknapp not being offered another contract, even if by some miracle we do manage to stay up.
Not embarrassed at all! I got over that after the Mechanics stalled our engine. It's been on the up ever since! I'm just a little peeved at times, that's all! You Rs........
