The main thing to remember when comparing Annie and Quevega is that the later's season was completely geared to appear first time out in the Mares by design. Annie appears there first time up due to injury. Monumental difference in my opinion.
That is true beefy and to come back from injury is hard but the horse looks just as talented as the former queen! Quevega was an individual in the fact her 1st time was at cheltenhan And the last few year s she s did have a couple of moments where she switched off but powered up the hill Anie power just seems to be all about pace but her not being 100% mad or not in the field that it is does not bother me would not touch her if it was any other race
Just had a bit of the 25/1 on offer for Ibis Du Rheu for the Triumph. So watch him come stone last tomorrow.
I've just taken a slice of 16s about Un Temps Pour Tout for the World Hurdle before his run at Cheltenham. If he wins well I expect him to shorten considerably.
How has Saphir de rheu drifted in price for the world hurdle was 9's and is now 10's. Un temps pour tout is now 14's. I doubt we have seen any festival winners that have won at Cheltenham today (TV races)
It's always tempting to write horses off who don't win 20 lengths on the snaff on trials day. Many of those running yesterday (and I think this applies to Un Temps Pour Tout in particular, given his previous absence) will have been using yesterday as a stepping stone. It's about who turns up cherry ripe in March and is the best on the day.
The only negative I think you can take from Un De Sceaux today is that it's possible he's shown us what he's got. You can't run like that and expect decent improvement can you? Apart from that small point, I don't see how anything can beat him in March. His jumping is superb. He's got Clarcam and Gilgamboa thinking they've run the hardest race of their lives today. He's seen off the best of the Irish that aren't in his yard, and he'll probably beat off the best of the English as well. He looks a monster.
The horse being a nutcase would be my main worry, wouldnt be surprised to see him lose the plot beforehand in that atmosphere 2nd race of the festival, hes bordering on uncontrollable at the best of times and the way he attacks the fences he has no room for error. While I dont think Josses Hill and Vibrato Valtat are anything special, they are with Henderson and Nicholls and id rate them as a fair step up from the horses he beat today. Clarcams juvenile form isnt worth much, initial impression was that he was a different horse over fences but Sizing Codelco has been dealt with on his next two runs and the Racing Post really fell apart around him. Gilgamboa made hard work of a handicap off 128 last season and was coming under pressure when he made the mistake in the Supreme, safe to say now he was outclassed in that anyway. Josses Hill needs to sort his jumping but UDS could play into the hands of the Nicholls horse. Its still early enough to be making decisions but I know for a fact I am opposing that at under 7/4 and in my opinion anyone jumping on at the price he is now, even on the day, wants locking up, fair play if you took the 5s. Id rather have a smaller bet on a loser than risk a bit on that horse keeping his composure. An evens shot isnt going to make or break my Cheltenham and id happily let him win 10 lengths if hes really that good.
I still have a sneaking suspicion that UDS might be supplemented for the QMCC and Vautour will go for the Arkle. Judged on today, you'd have to think UDS would have a massive chance in the Championship race despite being a novice given that it looks a far from vintage renewal given the doubts surrounding whether Sprinter Sacre is back to his best and SDG's participation is very much in doubt. If UDS and Vautour stick to the novice routes, you'd expect both to take a lot of beating in the Arkle and JLT respectively.
Not played the antepost market as much this time around, backed Conti after the Betfair and Douvan a couple of weeks ago before his latest run, but Un De Sceaux has gone straight into the portfolio today. Seriously impressive, first time I'd seen him over fences properly. As bob stated earlier you'll probably get a better price on the day, but I wanted to get a bet in the bank and will top up on the day. Vibrato Valtat will be a lively outsider too I reckon. Brilliant from the Fly, Jezki doesn't quite seem to be finishing his races off like at the back end of last season which could be a worry for Cheltenham
Been thinking the same this afternoon ROTO - why not have a crack at the Champion Chase with Un De Sceaux. To Bob's point, the Wednesday is always quieter anyway, less chance of him boiling over. I had this down as the best 2 mile novice chase of the season today, was expecting it to be nip and tuck with plenty of questions asked, but he has just gone and murdered them. I'd certainly consider chucking him in to the Champion Chase.
1995 i think the last time the Irish Arkle winner followed up in the proper one, Trifolium trounced a stronger field last season but wasnt good enough at Cheltenham, UDS is a better horse than Trifolium but Cheltenham will be a much harder race than he encountered today against 2 outclassed rivals.
128?! Un de Sceaux just absolutely smashed a 156 rated chaser by 15l and conceding 10lb on the snaff and people still prefer Josses Hill or Vibrato Valtat! They must be rated towards 180 lol As is the norm, once a horse that people cant take because of their anti-Mullins agenda the vanquished automatically become average! Can't wait until Faugheen thrashes The New One ****ing senseless, he'll become average then too lol What will they say then?! There's people on here will be in a very bad way should Mullins win a few races on the first day cos they've done their absolute bollocks opposing them lol Roll on March
This is Mullins gents. He kept Quevega to the Mares race for God knows how long. There's no way he sends a novice to the QMCC when the Arkle is there of the taking.
There's one thing I cannot stand about debate like this on here. Mocking people losing money and getting so personal. Absolutely no need for it. If you win with the horses you mention on day one then great stuff, good for you- but no one else cares. It's your bank balance, no one elses, so don't mock opposing opinions and laugh about people losing big money. That's their choice at the end of the day Beef. The difference between Faugheen and Un De Sceaux is that they have won nothing yet so. They haven't proven themselves on the day it really matters so people are well within their rights to ask questions until they get their definitive answers on March. Are they potential superstars? Absolutely. But until then, let's keep that champagne on ice Why does everything have to be this Irish/Mullins v the world agenda? I can't speak for everyone but personally couldn't care how many Irish/British/French winners there are- I just want to see good races personally and get definitive champions. The Champion Hurdle last year was a tragedy and a travesty in so many ways because it left unanswered questions and we lost a true star of the hurdles scene in Our Conor. Clarcam is rated 157 but does anyone think he beat the real Vautour LTO? Vautour hammered him the start before that. Gilgamboa always showed potential but again, hard to rate him accurately because of his bad error in the Supreme. However, on all seasonal evidence UDS is now the rightful fav at the right price. He has to do what all champions do though and prove himself on the strange undulations of Cheltenham and its hill. I hear a lot of mocking of Josses Hill but if they tweak his jumping he is a much better horse than what people think. On the evidence so fare though he'd be about 10L behind UDS because of the jumping. Let the dust settle at the end of that week in March and then we'll know the answers regarding these exciting horses.
No point sitting on the fence TC as you say! Just a bit of a rant, nothing personal but there's definitely validity in what I say. Certain horses can't win with some on here no matter what they do on the track. I just hope win, lose or draw that the winning horses get the credit they deserve come the time. I'll eat my humble pie should I need to (I always did to be fair, quite nice actually lol) just hope everyone is magnamious in defeat and it doesn't turn into a mess like last Cheltenham where posts had to be deleted etc etc
