Following on from Norway's top 10 players, something else to discuss during this void in games due to our FA Cup incompetence....

Imagine you take on Blatter/Platini in the election for top dog in either UEFA or FIFA and you won, what changes would you like to bring in to the game?

Me, being somewhat old school, I would change the format of the Champions League, revert back to European Cup, League Champions only and straight knock out, none of this money for old rope league format. The others qualify for the UEFA Cup as do the cup winners.

For two-leg ties that are drawn after 30 minutes extra time have been played I would re-introduce the tossing of a coin with the referee and the two captains in the centre circle of the pitch.
 
I would also like to simplify the offside rule, even the linesmen are confused now as was apparent at Spurs last Saturday......
 
All games on a Saturday at 3 - with the exception of local derbies (start at 12)

FA up semis played at neutral grounds

FA Cup replays - no penalties

A maximum pricing for tickets home and away, based on a multiple of the average wage

All cup games to be included in season ticket prices

Squads limited to 18 players and loan system scrapped in favour of youth players and to stop clubs hoarding players (Chelscum)

Minimum number of home grown players per matchday squad

ITV banned from coverage of football

European Cup resurrected (knockout) and restricted to league winners

FA Cup winners play in resurrected European Cup Winners Cup (knockout)

UEFA Cup for 2nd place (knockout)

QPR to be given a bye every year into 4th round of FA Cup

That was just incompetence, Tramore - nothing to do with complicated rules. I quite like the current interpretation, but it does cause some consternation on a Sunday morning when the linos are not quite au fait.

Probably doesn't help trying to decide if offside on not through a hang over.......:biggrin:

True. I often run the line for my son's games and, whilst I pride myself on my fairness, I find myself giving many decisions from five yards behind the play. It's ok, though, because the you have to wait before flagging to see if the player is affecting play. This allows time to catch up.

Aren't you supposed to keep up with the opponents left back ?
 
No players value to be more than 5 million and no players wages to be more than £10,000 per week so that the working class can again afford to go without it feeling like a mortgage

I'd make the players wear Velcro shirts and gloves to allow it easier to identify grappling in the area. If there's a loud ripping noise you know that either someone's been held back or they've let rip. No smell = foul play, smell = foul.

Also, anyone caught diving (picked up at the time or on review) has to dress up as Big Bird from Sesame Street for their next game.

Fair play stroller I'm impressed. Running the line is arguably the worst job in the world. When I am watching my sons games and see the ref coming over before the game with two flags in his hand I always then seem to remember I have left something in the car!
