Cheers Trunds. I know Sheenan and one or two others have gone on loan. Thought I'd read Kingsley had gone too.
Some feel that he has already overstayed his welcome. Out of the League Cup, largest ever P.L. defeat, and at home. I could go on...
Doing rather well at U21's and U18's atm , we certainly strengthened there ,whether we'll see more coming through is debatable , the ones who have been within the 1st team squads have been bought in rather than developed and if we do attain Category 1 status then I expect we'll see a lot more from outside the area and from a younger age .
Probably early for home grown, even the well established schools only produce a Premier League quality player every now and the. I am more concerned that only Barrow has come through the academy especially as several had played senior football before coming to us. Even those who have got on the pitch have shown they are well short of PL standards.
Beating Arsenal, Man Utd, Everton and not being out of the top 9 all season. I'll take that every day.
The Man U that then went on to draw with Sunderland, lose to Milton Keynes, draw with Burnley and lose to Leicester before finding some form. Arsenal - a good performance and result almost as good as good as beating Valencia. And to have beaten a second string Everton whose first 11 have just climbed to 12 in the leagues was pleasing. The thing is a little while ago we're not been out of the top 8 and the top 6 before that. Apart from the West Ham game at home and the odd 20 minute spell I have not seen us playing well all season. Our trend is consistently down and our squad seems to be on the cusp of melting down. Our squad is paper thin and we are playing over the odds for players who are no better than we have or are about to lose. You may be happy , and for that I am pleased for you, but many are not.
I haven't been happy with one or two things, I've even highlighted it in the past. But, in terms of results/points, Monk has done a bloody lot better than most expected, yet, you'd think we are guarenteed relegation fodder the way some post on here. Yes it was going to be a bumpy first season in charge for Monk. So far he's doing ok, but I'm fed up of reading such negativity around this season and Monk, when, so far at least, he is 9 points better off than this stage last season which is much better than some anticipated. As for beating Man Utd don't downplay that achievement. As for Everton, we had numerous changes too. As for Arsenal, I don't recall them having a player sent off for 80 minutes of the game.
You cannot downplay beating Man Utd at Old Trafford on the opening day - especially after they had literally destroyed everyone they played in pre-season. They were bursting with confidence and we burst their bubble big time. It's more likely that the effect of us beating them led them to go on that run. They've since shown that they are still a top quality side - so beating a confident, resurgent Man Utd at Old Trafford is still my win of the season so far. Van Gaal never saw it coming he was so confident. There are things I'm not happy with at our club right now, but points and league position are not among them. If we really want to become a laughing stock of the league, let's start asking for our manager to be sacked while we're still in the top half of the table. If in 2 months, we're in 15th and 4 points above the bottom 3, ask me again. But, as things stand, we're still in a good position, and a turn in fortune like the 5 game winning run that Pardew had at Newcastle earlier this season would see us back competing for Europe. Things can change quickly. Onto the topic - I'll wait and see what Kyle offers us. He's much younger than Rangel and will certainly solve our lack of pace on that side. He could certainly plug one hole, and sometimes, plugging just one hole can steady the whole ship.
we may not have any super stars but i have full confidence in the team comfortably staying up by a good margin, Christ when was the last time we had a nightmare of a game before the Chelsea game. Ill be well happy if those games come along every 40 -50 games, west ham was our last game we never showed up and fulham on the last day a couple of seasons ago..Other clubs can only dream of doing what we have done and on record our second season under laudrup was our worst season for a decade but we eventually fixed that problem and are in 9th place on 30pts already. a club record....
Monk has been in charge for 36 PL games. In that time we have accumulated 48 points. Under Brendan, over 38 games we secured 47 points. Under ML, we totalled 46 points from 38 games. Monk is NOT perfect, but neither is he as bad as some would have us believe.
Lots of Spurs fan shocked that levy got 5 million from us for Kyle. Not sure why we deal with spurs. Just hope the deal includes some future agreement for Carroll
They can't believe they got £5 million for him. Some say they'd have been happy to see him go on a free!!! I hope you ain't been caught with your pants down GM. Time will tell.
It was floated earlier that there's a chance of getting Carroll for £5m off them at the same time, and to be honest £10m for both of them, isn't the worst deal ever, just fair in my view. That said, it's still £10m quid! How times have changed.
Routelidge didn't fit any club he played for and he's turned out ok! Some players just fit certain clubs and styles. Maybe we think Kyle will fit, and we need someone in for Rangel
When Naughton arrives I hope he only plays at right back. I believe Spurs fans didn't rate him because of his performances at left back.
From a website called 'Standard Sport' "Kyle Naughton is on the brink of completing a move to Swansea after the Welsh club agreed a £5million fee with Tottenham for the defender. Naughton was discussing personal terms before sealing his move to the Liberty Stadium after being told he could leave White Hart Lane by head coach Mauricio Pochettino. The parties were said to be close to reaching an agreement that would see the move go through. Naughton looked set to join Swansea last summer but Standard Sport understands he chose to stay in north London because he was not offered an improvement on his Spurs salary, believed to be about £20,000 a week. But Naughton’s lack of playing time this season is thought to have changed his mind about his future. Now 26, the former Sheffield United defender knows he needs regular football if he is to fulfil his potential. When he and Kyle Walker moved to Spurs in a joint deal, which could have been worth up to £9m, in the summer of 2009, Naughton was considered the better prospect of the two. Yet while Walker has established himself as Spurs’ first-choice right-back and broken into the senior England squad, Naughton has made just 73 first-team appearances at the club, in between loan spells at Middlesbrough, Leicester and Norwich."
