Please don't call me a 'Koala bear'! When Europeans first came to Australia, they thought that Koalas looked like bears and in fact that they were bears so they were often called 'Koala bears'. Koalas are not bears – they are marsupials and their correct name is 'Koalas'.
MLK, Jr day, as always a day of reflection and what we stand for and to oppose oppression. Just got back in from Philly after a coaches convention where I saw and met youth and national team coaches from Dinamo Zagreb, Croatian national team, Shakhtar youth team and first team assistant, Celtic academy coach, Bayern Munich youth coaches, Barca youth coaches, Paul Breitner, saw Pele and Landon Donovan, Raymond Verheijen and Rene Muelensteen, Philadelphia Union academy set-up. Overload of information but it was good to see the variety of coaching ideas and philosophies. However, I am exhausted by that and the nights out in Philly, stayed in a hotel right there smack in the middle of the terminal market. Good times.
Apparently not. Many things have archaic names coined before they were fully understood, or taxonomy subsequently became more precise. Some are just named after the way they look or their habits. A Hedge Sparrow isn't a sparrow. An Ant-Lion is neither an ant nor a lion, a Killer Whale is a dolphin, a White Rhino isn't white. Guinea Pigs, Crayfish, Sea lions, Hedgehogs.... how many more do you want? The Sperm Whale was named after a white sticky substance found in its head which early whalers thought was its sponk.
You read the latest posts on the newest page and then have to go back three or four pages to understand what the hell everyone's goin on about so just end up reading all of it yeah, ffs
On this new site, it gives you the option to go to the last unread comment (next to the page numbers) so I did that and read through (the app automatically does this too)
Part of the fun... try and work out from latest comment what the **** the last 2 pages have been about...
Makes my head spin when I've not been on all day like today, there's loads of new posts and it's like it's not english but some other niche scouse dialect
