I didn't think I would ever say this but United under LVG are missing ... Ashley Young. His speed bringing the ball quickly out of United's half into the opposition half, transforming defence into immediate attack has been crucial to United s tactics. The play since he has been injured has been ponderous. Just millions of passes in front of the defence with very little penetration - the Swansea - like play which is so unlike United.

Whether the players are good enough is what's important. For me whether they cost the GGs £300m or £30m is totally immaterial. It is only money that would have gone to increase the GGs fortune anyway and in case there was any doubt the GGs will recoup that money in no time. The only important factor is whether the expenditure is any where close to FFP limit.
Another possibility... There might be a good reason to the madness.
