Bear with me..... But we're only 6 points away from 11th place! That's just 2 wins, all things being equal that is, and those 8 teams above now lose their next couple and we win a couple and get a couple more draws, we'd be mid-table! I just wanted to put a positive spin on the upcoming games, so we can get behind the lads, turn Loftus Road into cauldron of noise, and get up the table!
Just to put things in perspective: Our five wins this season have been against Sunderland, Villa, West Brom, Leicester and Burnley, all at home. We've already lost the return with Burnley. Look at the table and you'll see from 14th -20th contains those teams. It's nice to beat your immediate rivals but we have to beat them away to stand a chance and we just aren't good enough. Anyone saying other is deluded. It's now five without a win and our confidence is draining away. Meanwhile Harry does nothing in the window, his one signing may as well be a cardboard cut-out, he's totally devoid of ideas or inspiration, yesterday was his management-style in a nutshell, wrong players out-of-position, wrong substitutions too late to turn the game round. We're all loyal supporters trying to be positive but it's like watching a car crash, you can see it coming but the driver is asleep at the wheel...
Spot on. Redknapp was completely out-witted by Van Gaal. Managers like Pardew and Pullis would keep this squad up imo.
Well put Soops. We could be 3 points off top but we need something to change before I can see us getting any points. As it stands, I can see us still getting turned over away and putting on OK performances but not getting anything at home. Of course we will get points but we need to get some soon (whether that's by change of management, tactics(...?), some lucky breaks or a stunning goal or display by one or two individuals) otherwise it'll be more that six points to even get to a position much lower than 13th. If we were on the up and in 19th, I'd be happy enough but we're not and I'm wondering when we'll hit bottom rather than being able to look positively at anything.
We may be six points off 12th or 13th but that assumes we win two games and the teams directly above us don't win any, which isn't going to happen. As R's fans we are a positive bunch, comes with the territory, otherwise we'd have all slit our wrists long ago. But even with my positive hat on I can see no outcome other than relegation. Harry has obviously been told he can't spend any cash, so any signings will have to be loans, you can tell from his body language that he's not happy about that situation. And I can't see us finding any players of a high quality on loan to make a difference.
Our post match pub debate counted on all the remaining fixtures and we thought we could see us getting to 28 points. Not sure where the other 10 points to save us are going to come from...
I'm sure there will be the odd result that goes our way. The seasons when we beat Scum/Arse/Spurs were all a surprise to me. However i still think that not beating Palace/Swans at home and at least getting a draw at Burnley has cost us big time. I said before that going to Stoke/Leicester/palace/villa/WBA will not be easy and on our previous away form i don't see us getting much out of those games. My negative side will say that like always Villa/Sunderland/WBA will escape like they always do.
Not entirely true, Van Gaal was equally as guilty of playing players out of position and it wasn't until the Utd fans started chanting 442 did he change it. Agreed Harry didn't quite get it right but it was no master stroke by Van Gaal either, Utd won purely by dint of having better players.
I don't think Van Gaal is influenced by what fans chant tbh. He made changes that effected the outcome. Redknapp, as usual, made changes in reaction to circumstances and even then he left it too late and didn't bring Zarate on. Sorry mate........I'm finished with him!
I must admit I thought I miss-heard Van Gaal at first, but I obviously didn't. The arrogant bollox............
Good post Yappy. It's better than being adrift but we do have a mountain to climb with eight teams (two wins from bottom) trying to pull us down and climb over us.
Just get behind the players who are trying. May be they'll put it all together in the next few games and it'll make Harry look like a genius again. The players have enough ability to sort it out. Sometimes it's that little spark that will get them together. There's magic left. We can do it.
By the time we get six points the teams above us will have amassed 12. We're 2 points away from 20th, sadly that's the way we're heading.
