Supposedli Bielik has turned down Hamburg and will be coming to London tomorrow for a medical ahead of a £2-2.5m move. Sounds like he's quite good but I can't see a 17 year old being the answer to our problem right now.
I find it hard to get excited by a "potentially" good player when we have two areas that need addressing with players who need to be the finished/near to finished article. A 17 year old is far from that.
Supposedly Bielik is a done deal on a 3 year contract - people say he's very promising. Though why only a 3 year deal if he's that promising? Not exactly what we needed, but I suppose any extra bodies at the back will help...
Surely this forces Wenger to sign a Dm now to replace arteta, also i think Wenger should bring back Jenkinson he is to good a player to have him out on loan when we are short at the back i'd have him and Chambers fighting for the RB spot in Debuchy's absensce and this allows Chambers to cover CB if needed although i would prefer we signed an actual CB
Jenkinson doesn't have a recall clause so that point is moot. Bellerin seems the more able RB atm anyways. CHambers can be cover RB and CB, though if we do get Moreno then he can be shifted back to RB duties with Bellerin.
While we're at it, get him covering our DM position and when Giroud gets injured, the CF position and maybe bring in the tea's at half time. After all, a 19 year old can do everything
Excatly, that way we can burn this kid out by the time he is 21 and ruin his career. It's the Wenger way.
At least we're going for more experience with our second signing of the window: http://www.101greatgoals.com/blog/v...ciar-15-confirms-move-to-arsenal-on-facebook/
It's frustrating Jenkinson can't be recalled as he's doing really well at West Ham with constant games. The fans seem to like him too, read quite a few tweets to DG asking him to make the deal permanent. Problem is always when you have promising players like Bellerin and Chambers too. At some point a player will stagnate through not being used I guess. I've been really encouraged by both young players so I can't complain too much. I think if we had a decent CB cover then I'd not be so miffed about CJ being out on loan.
Do you really believe that? .. Is Wenger that bad in your eyes that you think he does'nt know how to bring though youth players anymore?.. Something he's basically famous for across Europe. No credit for Ramsey? Gibbs? etc.. (or the countless others over the last 18 years) Personally I think Bielik pretty much signals the end for Diaby. Tall, powerful, elegant player.. will add a good balance to the squad. I still think we need a more experienced DM to come in immediately as Coquelin and Flamini are simply not good enough. Particularly as Arteta is still 6-9 weeks away.
Love how you ignored where I suggested a CB, a name that could happen too unlike all these we need a DM or CB posts without realistic suggestions, so that Chambers can be shifted to battling out with Bellerin as RB and I only suggested Chambers be aux CB and RB until we get said CB, probably at the end of January. I doubt 2 games against Brighton and City (one of which he might not even play in) are going to burn him out or ruin his development but whatever.
"It is risky [not to sign anyone] - too risky," said Wenger. "If we have another injury or two we will struggle." Debuchy is expected to be out for another three months after surgery on his right shoulder, leaving Wenger with only six fit senior defenders at the club. "We can cope because we have [Calum] Chambers, [Per] Mertesacker, Koscielny," said the Frenchman, whose side face Manchester City on Sunday. "But we have now lost Debuchy who can play centre-back, Monreal who can play centre-back and Gibbs has been out too. The Gunners have been linked with a number of central defenders in the January transfer window, including West Ham's Winston Reid and Borussia Dortmund's Mats Hummels, but Wenger says it is difficult to sign quality players. "Why have we not signed a defender? We haven't found one. We are not the only ones working on the case," he said. "It is not a supermarket where you go in and buy a defender. It is a market that is very restricted. The players who can strengthen the best 10 teams in Europe, you don't find many and it is the same for everybody. "We are a big attraction, of course we are. If it was easy we would do it. "We have made enquiries but then you have the second handicap - who wants to sell their best player, especially a central defender, in the middle of the season? They say, 'come back in June or July'." -- Wouldn't have had that problem if he'd signed one in July when it was needed.
He also said today that we are working on signing a defender but aren't close yet - or words to that effect.
“Whether I go to Arsenal or stay at Villarreal, I won’t lose my head,” He's said keen to play in the premier league too, looks like it could happen
Not too keen on Gabriel. Think he's a bit too lightweight (the sheer amount of times Ive said that about potential Arsenal signings) I would take Virgil Van Dijk or Winston Reid - both would surely be affordable. Both are young tall centre backs and would balance out the squad better. Debuchy---Mertesacker---Koscielny---Gibbs Bellerin---Reid/Van Dijk---Chambers---Monreal That way we can keep the 'big centreback' and 'ballplayer' balance in the side.
As the Bear says I think its important to keep the balance we have with our CBs, where one is a mobile, ball playing one, and one is a physical presence!
