will fortress Greenhous come to town's aid, could there be a goalfest, will town team have a tweak, could town get 3 points. answers to all these questions on the back of a players weights pack to MM please.
Two less options for the bench with McAllister and Griffith gone. Will we see Wildig come off the bench as a sub? Thankfully Hartlepool haven't signed any ex players yet. Let's hope for a decent win tomorrow that pushes the Town up the table. Floreat Salopia.
A decent result in the end. We huffed and puffed first half and didn't seem to provide a good enough threat in the final third, bearing in mind that Mellon had talked about midweek training on this area , it was disappointing to see. Weso going down injured is a worry as it is his knee. Grant was brought on to replace and added a bigger creativity up front. Second half we scored very quickly with a well worked individual piece by Mangan. This was closely followed by a good one for Collins and then a second for Mangan. Gayle was coming forward more and helped out with the initial ball that led to the second goal which will help his confidence. Mellon replaced the strike force with Vernon and JLAA to give them an opportunity to get a goal, real shame Vernon didn't do that as I'd love to see him get a few. A good three points for Town but they do need to be more accurate with early opportunities as hartlepool certainly did that several times in the first half and Luetwiler kept us in the game.
Agree with pretty well everything said - nice to see our best partnership up front getting time to shine - what a great second goal. I thought the bobbly pitch was not conducive to the short passing game and we did better when trying a more direct longer passing style second half. Also nice to see Gayle having a good game and varying his crosses. The form of Lawrence is a bit of a concern as we go into a vital phase of the season and those on B and A crying out for Wildig clearly need not bother as MM does not rate him if he cannot even make the bench with Griffith and Mcallister gone. Finally all credit to Hartlepool - it would be great shame if one of the outposts of the Football League were to go down. They were one of the few teams this season who have actually come to the Meadow with attacking intent. I liked their No 29 (Bingham) as an attacking midfielder (sign him up now!).
Did anyone see the wrestling between Grandison and Harewood in corner kicks. We could've got a foul/penalty if the ref had seen how harewood was grappling grando.
Matster, Unfortunately refs seem to have all taken the view that these sort of incidents at corners do not merit a penalty - the only way to stamp out this unsavoury spectacle is to start giving them.
