I do expect at least one new face in this week and another before end of window!! Is that wishfull thinking? I hope not!!
We definitely need another option/dimension. A decent, young, hungry striker alongside Murphy, push McG back into the hole (matron) and go 3-4-1-2
3 at the back is not a bad shout with Parr & Mings pushing on, Skuse DCM, Bru & Bish ACM, Didsy & Murph up top. Form me that is our strongest set with this squad of players.
Mick knows what he is doing.....if he wants to bring someone in he will....if he wants to keep faith with the group that has gotten us to 1 point from top then that's his call.... If it was me i would keep working with the current squad that has already proven itself.......as I've said before I'm not a fan of solving any little problem with another new signing imo it's the quickest way to lose team spirit and unity and also with a high turnover of players it's hard for fans to get an affinity with the players. That said if the right player becomes available I'm not against A new face.
Sorry WCP, but I agree with Spanish here. We're in a brilliant position in the league, no question, and we have a good chance of promotion. That's due to the existing squad, Mick, and the coaching staff. However, to dismiss the need for reinforcements and quality in areas where we need it, because of a fear it could have on team spirit, is a misguided ideology to bring to a side chasing promotion, in my opinion. It could very well impact on results if we fail to resolve the deficiencies we have in what is a small squad. Mick knows the type of player to bring into the club, and that includes the player's personality. So I think the fear a couple of signings could potentially have on the team spirit is a little far-fetched. On the evidence of the past week, and indeed at times throughout the campaign, we needed strength in-depth up front and could do with support in the full back positions. What we really need, and several on here have already voiced their concerns, is some pace and creativity out wide. Jon Williams, if we can get him, and a pacy winger would, in my opinion, work wonders for a squad that is already looking a little short on numbers and quality on the bench up top.
We have a pacey winger Cameron Stewart, would like to see a couple of additions in midfield & up top.!
True, but Stewart has been out all season, made two substitute appearances, and is presumably short of match fitness. A winger on a short-term loan could make the difference.
We need some players to push the players currently starting, Didzy needs a kick up the backside and to start playing more for the team & Hyam has gone backwards over the past 6 months. I'm not saying a huge turn around, just 1 striker, 1 wide player and just one more to add a bit of guile in the centre. I was impressed by Bru last night and feel he could play a major part in the run in, but overall it seemed like a game where the team where more concerned about just getting through the game rather than winning. But on the brightside, only losing 1-0 at home to the team 3rd in the prem was deemed a success by the budgies for the last 3 seasons, but no doubt that goalpost will have been moved by now!
No need to apologise Nugg it's just my opinion.....but as I've said before Mick knows a lot more about Football/footballers/management/tactics and motivationing said footballers so I will go along with whatever he decides is best....
Additions are always nice but we do have players here that are just not in the team, like Stewart for instance and last nights midfield was hardly our strongest. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see some extra quality brought in too.
With Skuse, Bishop & Tabb out of action last night, that was just about all MM had left to choose from.
Have to say I though Ambrose looked half decent first half out wide right, definitely still got a little bit of quality about him, give him a few more games to get his match fitness back
To be fair McGoldrick has always been one to play more for himself than for the team (I don't mean that in a he's selfish way) but look at all the goals he scored last season, he made them generally out of nothing himself, they were rarely team goals. Last season we relied heavily on Cresswells delivery and McGoldrick scoring solo goals, then laterly Williams taking on the whole team. This season in general we attack far more as a team and perhaps that doesn't suit McGoldrick as much, I guess it doesn't help that he hasn't found his shooting boots yet this season. As for Hyam, yes he's been very poor the past couple of games but he was out for a while and is a little rusty, I'm sure given a run of games (hopefully in his best position defensive midfield) and he'll start to show some form.
