I follow that part and agree (although I think it is actually £11.5k a week) but not sure what point you are trying to make? I think we have got our wires crossed somewhere?
The point I am making is its possible to sign some very good players, squad players from prem teams, like we did with Barkley,Delph and Wickham, the fact non set the world alight at Leeds wasn't because they weren't good it was a management problem.
You plan to stay up and build for promotion or like Millwall accept you're going down and build for league 1.Unless you're Man city or Chelsea you can't afford to build 2 teams. If we went down we could sign loads of Ajose,Wooton standard players,we don't need to keep them.Would only say keep if I thought they may improve big time. For the record I think Ajose may make it,in a year or 2.Wooton I don't.
I am not trying to build two teams, if we went down all loan players would go back, Mowatt, Cook and Byram would probably be sold, Wooton would be a decent league 1 player as would Ajose. Holding on to two players is hardly building two teams. You say we can't afford it yet we already have one of the smallest squads and wage bills hence our ability to bring in 5 players despite an embargo. Bringing in a load more loan players is hardly building for the future.
I definitely agree with Ristac on this one. Its not even that, Wootton we have had for a year with the view of him improving heavily. We haven't really given him too much of a chance to improve and made a large investment on him. Loaning him out for experience is one thing but letting him leave permanently is another especially when our options in defense are becoming more scarce by the day and he would be a valuable first team assest if we did god forbid get relegated. Warnock is an even more confusing sale as he has been playing first team all season. He seems probably one of the more capable defenders and like it or not we need some experience in this team. Add to that, derby are the ones interested in him and they are aiming for promotion so they are clearly thinking he will add to their squad. I think its all a bit silly.
Worrying too that in a team that lacks leaders we are shipping out one of the most vociferous players, who repeatedly puts his body on the line. Don't understand the logic unless finances are even worse than we imagine.
Not sure where you have got that from,we have reduced a massive wage bill, but to say its one of the smallest. If Warnock and Morison are on the money people say for example £20,000 that's £2 million or 1/4 millwalls total on 2 players. The other thing is we have to show we are now running within the rules to lift the embargo,is keeping Warnock and Wooton worth having the same problem in the summer or next jan.
You just have to look at squad size and reported low wages the 15 Cellino brought in are on. Hunt was said to be highest paid but on 10k not the 20k that was getting brandished around. I think the final report said we were 9.5 million in debt for the period, we can submit an interim in March to get the ban lifted in May. On the interim the Ross sale can be included and that we no longer have the loan on gate receipts. You can bet when Cellino re-negotiated the terms with GFH, ensuring we were going to have the embargo lifted was high on the agenda. As a Leeds supporter it has become second nature for us to continually assume we have too large a squad, overpaid and no money, the fear has been installed to drive expectations down. The truth is we have no money because between GFH and Bates they syphoned it away in anyway they could. With the loan on gate share finished, the squad we have now and size of gate we surely have to be a team that is now making money? I know Cellino owes GFH some cash but as far as I am aware that is towards purchasing the club?
Seen that too, but discarded it. He's 32 & 6 months into a 3 year contract. Can't see Cellino breaking his 'over 30' rule. Think this is just a bit of speculation that Dyer's agent has generated myself.
I would have to agree based on his recent comments and reasons about Warnock, Dyer has supposedly fallen out with the coach so who knows. I have also seen him described as a winger, Dyer and Taylor overlapping on the left?
Player/Coach Rift solver: Warnock to Derby, Dyer on loan to us until end of season to fill the gap? (edit: not what I think should happen)
what you are allowed to do and what Cellino will actually do are 2 completely different things he wont pay 10k per week not even if it was part payment for Gareth Bale 3k and a promotion bonus i CAN believe though I think you will get Cani 7 goals in the last 2 years in Serie B looks right up Cellinos street
You're not right on that one m8,Morison is on around the £20,000 mark for 2 reasons.1 TC posted that Millwall paid a % of his wage around half and they were paying around £9,000 according to TC.and 2 when Morison signed for us he said he was on £18,000 at Norwich and was a bit surprised to get a pay rise at Leeds.Dont believe an England international Warnockwould have come from the prem for less than £20-25,000 either as he was still under contract at Villa and I dont believe they paid an international less than that fee.And as for Celino's 15 they are on lower, not low wages, still believe they will be on more than players at 2/3rds of the championship clubs.
Well I always assumed Hunt was on £20k then I saw a report where McCarthy said he was on £10k so maybe you are right, I have no proof one way or the other. I have been searching everywhere for a clue as to what Warnock is on this afternoon. The only references I can find say he was all set to join West Ham and that we can in with a longer contract offer (not larger, longer length) and it said Villa wanted his £40k a week off the books. I found several reports saying he was on £40k a week at Villa so maybe he is on more than some of us believe.
He's now gone. 18 month contract with a year's option. http://www.insidefutbol.com/2015/01...leaves-leeds-united-for-derby-county/183238/?
I am starting to believe he was on £20k possibly and probably more a week.. Everywhere you look it says Villa were desperate to get his £40k a week wages off their books. He had six months to run and joined us on an 18 month contract. 6 months or 26 weeks at £40k a week = £1.4m 18 months or 78 weeks at £20k a week = 1.56m I am starting to wonder if he was actually on nearer to £25k a week For the record I am not agreeing or disagreeing if he is worth that amount, or if he should be allowed to leave, just thinking out loud about his wages.
