Aye it's a mental deal! Didn't think we had the admission, pulling power or wage structure. Glad to be shot of Jozy too. Mind you, the Jozy part is going to cause ructions as MLS are rewriting rules yet again.

They will not be rewriting the rules. Toronto are 6th on the list to get first dibs on him and only Toronto and Portland who is lower on the list than Toronto are willing to pay his silly 6 mill a year wage demands to return to the MLS so Toronto will get him with no rules being broken. They would have to rewrite the rules if a team like San Jose was willing to match that salary which there is no chance they would.

Looks like its a done deal according to NBC tonight. Jozy to Toronto, Defoe to Sunderland. "According to multiple reports out of the UK, Defoe will move to Sunderland and collect a massive payday". How many goals do you thinkJozy will score in the MLS in the coming season Laurie.??? Ellewoods thinks he'll score 20. Can he emulate his AZ feats? Or will it be another disappointing season???

You don't know why clubs want a guy who is a certain 20 plus goal scorer and has a real good chance at breaking the MLS record of 27 in a season? Plus a guy who will sell a ton of kits and draw in lots of fans. Also a salary of 100k a week is like nothing for our sports. Like a lot of us have been saying there will be a time when the MLS if it continues to grow will draw in lots of the worlds best talent because salaries in the 400-500k a week range are fairly common here, hell my baseball team has like 7 guys who make that much a week.

He'll get a shed load mate and I believe he is where he should have stayed. He won't be playing against speedy international defenders of Premier League standard so I would expect him to shine at home.

Looks looks like Sunderland are willing to pay 14 million and 80,000 a week for his services, on a 3 year contract. Seems a lot for a 32 year old. Bet he is chuffed with that deal.

The total cost of the deal is £14m, that's the fee and the wages.

If its £80k a week - then the £14m is just the wages ( it's supposed to be a 3 and a half year deal)

If this deal happens could Bruce go for Wickham? I wouldnt put it past him....

And I know he signed a new deal before anyone says anything.

I've mentioned this before, would be a great signing, but didn't he sign a new deal in the summer? Not sure, but would probably take at least £6m to sign him.

A new deal doesnt necessarily mean someone is wanted or will be staying, it could be a tool to stop them leaving for free.

Maybe the £14m is the wages only, it's certainly not £14m + wages, Toronto only want £3m for him.

Maybe they're not including the fee, as Altidore is potentially going the other way.

It'd be great for the credibility of MLS if Jozy failed to score a goal all season over there. Instead he's likely going to show the league up by bulging the net ferociously on many occasions.

The Mackems better hope that he doesn't **** his knee up like Bullard or Snoddy in his first run out, or do those kind of things only happen to us?

I know he did, as I already mentioned and covered in my posts. And I wondered if Bruce might go for him, I didnt say I thought he'd be successful.

Back on Defoe, is it just me that can't see this flash ****er being happy living on Wearside? He's always seemed a bit sulky and typical London footballer to me.

    "Can we have Defoe?"
    "No"
    "Can we have Wickham?"
    "No"
    "Can we have Fletcher?"
"No. Look I like you, Steve so I don't want you to go away empty handed. I've got a lovely 1985 Danny Graham out the back if you want to take a look?"
    "Erm..."
