Knowing the FL as we do I don't hold out much hope but we shall see http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwic...jonny_howson_s_bournemouth_red_card_1_3914425
Yes KIO, I tend to agree with you. It was definitely a case of ball first, but the trailing leg certainly caught Kermorgant quite heavily.
Mind you, from the TV angle it is pretty clear that Howson is aiming towards the ball and not the player, in fact almost away from the player.
Is there a chance that the red card might be reduced to a yellow, indicating a foul by the trailing leg but not dangerous play or violent conduct? IMO, it was neither of those.
I don't think they go that far do they? I think they just consider was it a straight red card for the purposes of a ban.
Ah fair enough. We will have to see. Unfortunately I have a sneaky feeling that this appeal might be rejected. It's the sort of tackle where you look at it in real time and if it had got no card or a yellow (which admittedly would have got him sent off) no-one would really have batted an eyelid and questioned whether it was a straight red. But when you're on a referees panel inclined to back the referee and you see that while he's gone in with one foot leading and got the ball, he has taken the player blind-sided and both feet are off the ground, plus there have been quite a few complaints recently about swinging your trailing leg. Harsh, definitely, but I wouldn't be surprised.
The ball looked to have got away from the Cherries player and Howson slid in to play it back , a ball that if he didn't go for would be dissapointing. The trailing leg clattered him though and I guess the ref called it 'dangerous play'. Yellow yes but it was not malicious so hopefully it gets recinded or down graded to a yellow. Either way the squad depth can handle the outcome.
Back in training. Probably still a couple/few weeks away from a first team return. Don't want to rush him back
That's good news and hopefully he'll be fully fit for the run in and our trip to Wembley!!! <tongueincheekemoticon>
Chris Goreham @CGoreham 3m3 minutes ago The @FA have turned down #ncfc Howson appeal. They've also called him 'Jonathan' in the announcement to underline how naughty he has been
That was my fear Even though it was unlikely to be a red card if it had been any other referee, unfortunatley there is just enough in it to justify the referees decision and they always sway that way. Frustrating, but I suppose we have to hope that Hoolahan can step up to the plate. At least we're playing him for two home matches
It's the fact they call it "Serious foul play" that gets my goat. Further proof that they didn't even look into it in my eyes. Imagine if they actually overturned some red card decisions that were dubious instead of the ones that are blatantly wrong! That'd be a turn up for the books!
There's NO WAY that that can be considered 'serious foul play' - he did actually get the ball first!!! I feel it's harsh, but we'll just have to accept it and hope Hoolahoops can deliver.in his place.
Or that Vadis O-O gets fit quickly, or maybe O'Neil could play slightly further forward. He has decent touch and quick distribution.
One thing for certain, if Wes gives one of his below par performances, he won't be allowed to carry on under AN
