I agree with you actually, Josh. I was only talking about emergency cover. You're spot on with Perce & Cooper, plus Thompson is a midfielder who's put in a few temp shifts as a RB.

The cupboard is bare for cover.

we need new players in m8 and the 1/2 million saved in Warnocks is worth the gamble IMO.

I personally don't believe he is on 40k a week, that isn't to say he is not, I just don't believe it. My fear is that with the embargo in place I can't see us bringing in game changers, only more squad players, we need experience and you don't get better at this level than Warnock, not on a free you don't.

It isn't just about Warnock, allowing it seems Wooton to go as well and we have much less choice and back up for both sides unless we disrupt the new formation and start playing people out of position.

2.08 MILL for a 21/2 year contract = just slightly over 800,000 quid a year.

    13 x 4 week months = 61.5 thousand a month divided by 4 = approx 15,400,00 quid per week.

    However, 40k per week = 160,000,00 per 4 week month x 13 months = 2.080 mill a year.

    interesting.

No way would Derby be offering that kind of money, I know he has been given an 18 month contract by them but even if they offered £10k a week he would be better staying with us and earning more by seeing out his contract. We have shifted a lot of players said to be on high wages this season, as fans I believe we are still in the mindset that we need to save money, we need to trim the squad.

We have one of the smallest squads we have had in years, all on low wages attached to bonuses for promotion (so it has been said many times before), I don't believe selling or allowing Warnock to leave has anything to do with needing his wage, you just have to look at how few first team players we actually have once he and Wooton have left.

You make a good point about the squad pruning ristac, and I'm often one who is constantly thinking that we need to do more of it.

I usually come at it from a deadwood perspective rather than a wage one though. As long as Norris, Morison, White (and others) are still in the squad, I will still see the potential for further purging, not for wages, just because I don't want them at the club <laugh>

BUT if we are heading for a relegation scrap (which we seem to be well on course for) then this purge should be done at the end of the season, not now, and on the premise that we actually bring quality in to replace them. Not just more deadwood/backup players on stupidly long contracts.

Exactly, players like Wooton and even Ajose would be ideal if we end up in L1 because all the loan players will be told to leave and you can bet Cook and Mowatt will have their agents sniffing around every possible avenue out.

It has everything to do with wages,we can only spend 75% of the wages we save.Hunt,Warnock and Wooton would give us enough saving to bring in 2 or 3 players. Some keep saying why did Celino go off to Miami instead of getting players in ? Simple you can't spend on more wages until you've made savings,so he couldn't bring any in till some go out,and the Thursday meeting thing is just the start the outcome is not expected till mid feb so no panic.

No I think you are wrong, the 75% rule is for one out and one in, we already have availability for 5 spots as long as we don't pay them over 10k a week. Warnock staying or going would not change this in regards to wage.

I would just keep our options open, IF we do slip down a league and that is possible who do you think will stay, who do you think will be sold or want off because their agent is telling them to better their career. I know you and me don't see eye to eye but your just being argumentative on this one.

I am not being negative, just sensible, you just blindly accept every decision Cellino makes without question, you really are turning into a brown nose.

The money part is the main part as far as the football league are concerned, they expect outgoings to be reduced, that's the whole point of FFP to reduce overspending. If what you say is right we could spend more than previous which doesn't make sence.

The wages would come into it with the 75% rule if we signed too many, as it stands we have 5 slots available, if we wanted to bring in a 6th then we would have to release/sell a player and then the 75% rule would come into effect but no matter what we can't pay more than £10k a week

But we can loan a player on £20,000 or any amount but only pay £10,000 of his wage his other club having to pay the rest, this is what often happens when you loan from the premier league or better players.

you have and still are selling all your best players and keeping the worst <ok> buying good english league 1 and 2 players would be an improvement on what youve been buying already <laugh>

I don't follow you? We could loan a player on £100k a week but we are only permitted to pay £10k of it.

We have 5 slots, we can't fill all five with loan signings, is it two more we can have on loan for the season? If we get two loan players we then have three slots for free or out of contract players, honestly mate, Warnock going or staying doesn't make a difference with the fair play situation not unless we are intending on bringing in 6 new faces.

I tried to find an article I quoted from back in early December late November but couldn't find it. The rules stated that you can make signings (free) if you have 24 or fewer non established players. Established is defined as a player over the age of 21 who has made 5 or more appearances. I remember saying back then that just maybe this is why we have hung back on allowing a few of the loan players making an appearance. The wage I thought was a maximum of £11.5k a week but I have since seen £10k quoted.

52.2.1 A maximum of 5 loan Players (Standard, International, Emergency or Youth) can be named in the Players listed on a team sheet for any individual match played under the auspices of The League. This figure shall include any additional loan of a goalkeeper approved by the Executive under the provisions of Regulation 54.

We can loan players that are being paid more than £10,000 by their clubs, but when we loan them we agree only to pay up to £10,000 of his wage his owner club has to agree to pay the rest. For example when we loaned the Sunderland striker last season they paid most of his wage.
