Jesus, all it takes is one decent result, and a loss for us, for some of the Budgies to come crawling out of the woodwork. Thankfully that hasn't happened many times this season.

It was, admittedly, a good win for you guys and will obviously help you. However, you'd be pretty naive to overlook this as a favour to ourselves. We could have dropped four points from the top and, while I don't think we'll finish as champions, to be one point off top spot should give our lads a bit of confidence and offer some solace.

It'll be interesting to see how Norwich will prevail for the remainder of the season. Alex Neill did well at Hamilton Academical, but the Championship is a completely different ball game. His lack of experience in management could be detrimental to your promotion hopes this year. You have a good squad, on paper, but depending on if you sell or keep some of your best players this window, you'll either be play off potential material or one of the transitional also-rans.

Unfortunately I didn't see or hear the match today, had a works party last night that ended up getting a bit messy.
Some nice posts have got me up to speed on what went on though and even though I didn't see it, it doesn't surprise me to hear that McG was selfish. I've been noticing for a while now that his shooting is off, he's taking shots when there are better options and his body language doesn't look positive at times.
It does seem like he's trying too hard.

Agree Mike re McGoldrick, last season we relied an awful lot on him scoring a worldy solo goal or Cresswells crosses and set pieces, this season we attack far more as a team and I think he is both struggling to adapt to this but also he does look like he's trying to hard too impress

we cant and was never going to win them all so a defeat doesn't hurt so much as the manner of it. The ref was poor but personally I think he let us off a couple of decisions which could of put us down to 10 men aswell so no real complaints about him.
My bigger issues were giving up on our recent decent passing displays for pointless hoofball and Murphy and McGoldrick looked to have fallen out - never near each other or looking for each other. Our midfield was never really in it. What is happening with Collison?
Not reasons for panic/ anger but a few question marks have come to light, which considering it is during a transfer window may mean we can add a few new faces to compliment what we have.

What I don't understand is when I saw us against Brighton we seemed to pass the ball much better and didn't constantly hoof it. Mick said after that game that we needed to be patient and if we kept hoofing the ball up field it would just keep coming back at us.

Watching the Derby game it seemed like constant hoofing and on a windy day doesn't make much sense? I realise Derby are a different proposition than Brighton, but surely the same thing applies?

Derby are twice as good as Brighton though. For us to play a very slick passing operation and match them with the team we have is sadly going to be a big ask!

Thing is though Westy, Derby look like they had a fairly big defence so the long ball failed to reach a blue shirt on 95% of the times we attempted it. Mings had a couple of runs at them and looked dangerous. Your probably right that we couldn't play a proper passing game against them but I don't think we had to be overly scared of trying it either. I just thought we looked nervous and surely we have no need to. We have proved that we are there on merit now.

It's true, I think we showed Derby too much respect at times.
Anyway I'm not going to complain too much, just one of those days.

Like others, i'd like to see a back 4 of Parr, Chambers, Berra, Mings on Wednesday.
