Agree. Scholes and Giggs had no ambition to leave United, a winning club, and happy to win trophies as squad players.

Whereas Stevie still does have ambitions

Not sure when the last time you watched MLS game was, my guess would be somewhere around 2007 when your statement would be accurate. Now the good MLS teams have starting XI's that would challenge for promotion in the championship. The quality starts to fall off when you look at roster depth due to the salary cap. The rest of league would be mid to lower championship level with the bad teams about league 1 level.

Pretty certain Rush, Dalglish etc have been and are employed officially, look it up before you look silly.

Everything ends, I'm honestly not bothered by it. Stevie is making a choice, he deserves it after all this time. And he did have a choice - he was offered something. Liverpool have no obligation to hand him whatever he wants.

Did they work under the current ownership when they stopped playing?

    No.

I have absolutely no idea why you might choose to defend the owners, and specifically Rogers. Rogers is a narcissistic ****er and the sooner you lot get that the better. He's happy to get rid of Gerrard because he's more important to Liverpool than he ever will be.

As to your last line, you're right. They don't. But them not doing so just proves the point you're arguing against because it IS a ****e way to treat a long serving (legend) of a player like Gerrard who still has so much to offer.

Haha so that's your criteria. Current owners have had two legends: Carra retired with us; Stevie like it or not could have but chose not to.

What Stevie offers now must be in the dressing room etc.. on the pitch his moments of quality are dwarfed by his lack of influence. He's not good enough to start anymore... end of the day we can't afford a 120k+ wage for him! We already have Balo <laugh>

None of us know what influence Rodgers had... Stevie however appears (could be bullshit) to be a big fan. None of us can say what Rodgers is actually like beyond conjecture but I agree he has a long way to go to match Stevie.

You're talking like he won't be back here coaching after a few seasons of sun, adulation and trophies <laugh>

I did mention it if you care to read back.

You seem to have missed, or choose to ignore, what I'm saying in that Gerrard has stated he would have signed if he was offered a contract. So, they didn't offer him a contract.
Not until he said he was leaving anyway, which is when they backtracked.

You seem to be telling me that Gerrard had more or less demanded to play every game and when told he wouldn't be decided to leave?

    Is that correct?

Didn't he state that he would have signed if he was offered a new contract last summer?

In other words, he would have been happy to accept a bit part role at Liverpool when they were in the top four and dreaming of the title. But it's another story to consider a bit part role at a club in mid table.

Also worth noting that he has specifically stated that "I didn't want my club games to be tailored". So imo Liverpool are right to get rid - he clearly thinks that he's bigger than the club and whilst that may have been true for much of his career it definitely isn't any more.

Think Swarbs has sort of answered.

The club waited (for whatever reason - we can't know why) until I think November to offer a deal. It was most likely a token offer because they knew Stevie would reject it (LA Galaxy has been on the cards for a while)... he doesn't want to be a squad player for his final few years. Fair enough really.

Can anyone begrudge him a move? No. Can we expect the club to abandon reality to keep him? No.

Slippy is the Liverpool Talisman, without him Liverpool will suffer, he will give his all, unlike other players, whos heads drop.

No Slippy, no top 6 finish

I'd honestly rather have a midfield of Henderson, Allen, Lucas who can cover ground, work the ball and press. Gerrard definitely gives his all but his legs are gone. When play passes him he's usually out of the equation.

We absolutely need to replace his experience and hunger though.
