Warnock Set To Leave?

If hes on 40k a week its no wonder Cellino wanted him out earlier this season I personally sorry I shouldnt think but I do that Cooper will make a good leader and Taylor will give us more pace

 

I can imagine Warnock on being £40k a year especially after his time at Villa. I can imagine Lerner was paying a pretty player to get the players O'Neil wanted.

At this time in history I'd keep till the end of the season then when his contract is up then consider letting him go

 

Sky now reporting he is at Derby for a medical 18 month contract being talked about and doesn't sound like we get a fee sounds more like being released from contract.

 

I'm skeptical about the £40k being banded around, and I think we should retain Warnock until the end of the season for his experience. But I'd assume the thinking is if he is on £40k releasing him from his contract is like getting a fee for him.

Taylor and Berardi are probably on no more than £10k per week between them and are more than adequate replacements for Warnock, so even if Warnock's on a conservative £20k pw it's a good saving.

And let's face it, Warnock's no Tony Dorigo. He's not even an Eddie Lewis.

I'm guessing Redfearn has been happy with how Taylor has been playing and got lucky with Derby showing an interest freeing up Warnock's wages and beating that embargo with the one in one out ruling or whatever it is exactly as a bonus.

 

Warnock below £20k a week, good to release him to another club, gives Taylor the chance to progress

He's been MOM a couple of times this season,but also cost us a few games.Don't think we should have offered him a new contract unless it was for half pay,Taylor is playing well I think it was the right thing to do.

 

At 20k a week, he'd have pulled 480k in wages by the time his contracts up end of June. Virtually a half million. Would we have got a half a million in value from Warnock? Like hell we would

 

If Taylor keeps playing the same,would be half a million warming the bench.

 

But he's only played 1 full league game for you - and that was marking Liam Feeney who is complete dog turd!!

 

However, if taylor gets injured then who plays LB? You could move Berardi there like has been suggested but he really is more of a RB and less comfortable there. There's also the small problem of not having anyone who would be able to play RB especially after we get rid of Wootton who can fill in there assuming we are going to see Byram stay further up the pitch.

In truth, defence really isn't the place we need to be offloading players. Its not that I rate Warnock incredibly highly but we lack numbers there now so get rid of some central midfielders and I wouldn't mind as much.

 

We've got Pearce & Cooper who can do a shift at LB if necessary. Zac Thomson has played at RB too.

Pearce is a shocking left back and taking Cooper out of CB will disrupt the defence. I did forget about Thompson but you have to wonder why he hasn't been looked at in so long. Ideally we will need to sign a replacement
