Hi all,a bit cheeky this, and to be honest i'm not really comfortable with it ,but here goes...
Some of you might remember from last year's tour de France thread that my son's turned out to be a bit of a whizz on the old push-iron. He's managed to get a 'scholarship' from the RTTC to help with living costs to enable him to spend time riding competitively,so he's due to go to a team in Belgium in February /March, after a training camp in Spain . He's working till he goes to fund himself, and he's done well sorting bikes and equipment. The slight sticking point is that the funds from RTTC only apply for 3 months, though they might extend it. So I'm somewhat embarrassed to ask, are there any gullible, sorry,i mean well-intentioned business people on this board, who might be in a position to divert some funds/sponsorship money his way. He's making a website, where he'll 'blog ' about what he's up to, and this will include reference to the businesses and charities that have helped him out.
If there is anyone out there
who might be inclined to help,i can let you know more about him, as i know it might seem a bit sketchy so far ! Thanks for reading.

He's done a lot over here in Cheshire, mainly cycle-related businesses, which is where the bikes and other equipment have come from, I suppose they can see a link, and there could be a pay off for them in terms of the blogs

    Have you approached bike manufacturers?

They'd be my first port of call.

Them, or cycling clothing manufacturers, it's far easier to get sponsorship from those who can see a direct benefit.

Yes OLM, he's got someone building a time trial and a road bike, clothing isn't such a big issue as he will get issued some by the team, plus what he already has, and he's connected enough to get discounts. As I say, hardware not really the issue anymore, it's living costs.
    Ben, didn't know that, thanks

Try Chain Reaction Cycles, they are just about the biggest mail order bike company in Europe - based in Ireland.

Bradley Wiggins had a foundation for developing cyclists - individuals and groups. There may be something in that?

Also try some of the specialist energy drink companies. Not the carbonated stuff you use as a mixer ;)
