That's not stand-up Madge. I did 'stand-up' comedy for many years incidentally it can be rewarding and heartbreaking. You can have an audience falling off their chairs one night and do the same routine the following night and nobody cracks their face. Mine was mainly in "The Lodge" (for free) where I used my talent for raising money for people in distress but I did some "Pub Gigs" (very rewarding) but these were local and few and far between.
Good on you, but if this thread is an indication of your material, I'd suggest the one's that fell of their chairs were probably just in shock.
Toughest job in the world is making people laugh. Although I guess working in a china sweat shop is no ****ing picnic either.

Why Dover Athletic of all clubs? Don't we have a tea lady of our own? And if we offer her a contract, then won't the kiosk servers, the cooks at the training ground and the canteen staff all want contracts as well? What if they want coffee? Isn't this a bit drinkist? Some people, like myself, don't drink caffine so maybe she should also provide soft drinks, even an orange squash would be fine.
