Exactly the same thing happens with our supporters/posters and the love affair of Niko Krancjar. Different player, same rose tinted specs. Having said that, Adel did well today considering it's his first game back. Not many who you could say had a better game out there in a hooped shirt, and as someone pointed out, Adel was severely lacking in match fitness.
From a crappy stream I thought he was fine, obviously needs game time. I wonder if the 'not match fit' excuse applies to him as well as everybody else? His passing was usually first time and accurate, which is good for the Chileans but a bit of a nosebleed for everyone else, who are waiting for a postcard to be told what is happening next.
To be fair, I don't think you can compare Niko and Adel. One has a good attitude and always gives his best service when chosen, the other does not. Niko can have games where he isn't effective but both of these players are worth having on the pitch (if they have the right attitude) because they can be having a quiet game and suddenly do one thing to change it all. That's why is like to see more of Niko, because there's at least a vague chance of something happening. Without players like him, Taarabt and Hoilett we could huff and puff all day and even look good on the ball but not actually create anything. We've seen plent of games in recent years where we've had very few chances and even a few games with no attempt on target.
Just back from the game. Just spent 3 hours with Millwall fans on the train. The team were also on the train... Mood somber. most of our travelling support are looking forward to the Championship. Adel was one of our best three players today alongside Dunne and Green. I heard the guy next to me say that it was worth the trip up just to see a QPR player give a touch or flick to a ball that reminded him that we still had players who could play and not scrap for the ball. He did a couple of beautiful passes. In the second half his cross that picked out Isla on the run to his feet was amazing - all of the other players went 'WoW' as did the whole ground. He looked a whole different class to the rest of our playing team. The fact that he was not match fit gives hope but I (and consensus on the train) is that Harry will be stubborn and not play him in spite of a good performance. He did loose the ball in the first 20 mins a bit and got some stiff tackles but this was always part of his game - he plays to the feet and opposition players go in hard on him - that is how we got so many penalties the year we went up with him in form. The most positive thing I saw from Adel however was not the beating the players and flicks and the crosses - it actually was his attitude. Burnley time wasted a lot in the last 20 mins. At one point Adel got into a scuffle - that could have got him a yellow trying to get the ball back to pass get a throw in taken. He was competitive. He got some hard treatment on the ball - got a hand in the face that on another day could have a been a red card and he carried on. I know I am one of the Adel fan club and many of you will be suspect that I see with rose tints - but trying to be honest here....
Bang on. I got there 20 mins in to the game with a Burnley mate of mine who got me the ticket. It was brilliant to see a touch of class for once. We have tried the water carriers for so long it was refreshing.
Hey Clint tried. We so obviously miss Yun. Clint was terrible however. But A+ for effort but he just does not have the legs. He is not a left back. He did 2 runs on the wing got deep into their half and was out of breath - he literally stopped and passed the ball backwards and trotted back. We have no cover. His legs have gone. But he works hard. He was played - like so many others in the wrong position. He is a good centre half but no longer the legs for carrying the game and his distribution was terrible - but this was never his game.
Just going to watch I now I've read reports that gave Adel 3 & then PD's Seeing as it was the Bell in Ruislip I won't take his too seriously. ( spent plenty of time there) General concedes seems that he had an ok first game back.. Would that be correct ?
The boy is so talented just think where he has come from this season It was a poor game but he looked in a different league imo He could step into any game in the world and look at home Said before its his football mind that is so unique it's hard for others to read it I really hope he plays against United at home because again I believe he will look as good as United has If/when he goes then I hope he reminds every QPR fan exactly what we had Massive respect to those who made the game and I agree it must of been worth it just to see him play in our shirt again Without taarabt what the hell do we look like it's not a QPR side
He would probably be even fitter against United. The trouble is will he see as much of the ball against their superior quality.
Like Harry I thought Adel did ok. Some very decent passing not a lot more. Keep playing him and hopefully he'll get back to his best. We need him!
Will he see any of the ball against United? If Zamora is fit, Taarabt will be dropped to the bench, have no doubt about that.
You could apply that quote to 80% of our players and is the biggest factor in our team being in the drop-zone, we just can't retain possession...
