With the sponsorship deal starting at the beginning of next season, will we be restricted to making any mega-signings from the Adidas 'stable' of talent. I can't imagine them spending £75m a year only for us to sign someone on Nike or Puma's books - so who could our 2015 marquee summer signing(s) be ?
Will we bollocks. If anything, adidas will be more keen for us to sign high profile players who are on their rivals' books, so they can try and convince them to switch personal sponsorship. At the very least, they would be happy to have a high profile player affiliated to their brand in any way, even if it's only through the club merchandise. Messi sells thousands of Nike branded Barca shirts despite being sponsored by adidas, and Ronaldo sell thousands of adidas branded Real shirts despite being sponsored by Nike. adidas didn't even kick up too big a fuss when Ronaldo turned up for his Real medical in a Nike shirt, just sat back and rubbed their hands in anticipation of all the shirts they would sell with his name on it, instead of Nike selling a load of his Utd shirts.
I agree with Swarbs, sponsors don't decide who players play for yet. I don't think it makes to much difference as far as who we will or won't sign
I'm more concerned about the shirt Adidas will come up with. You just have to look around at different clubs who use them, and it's a conveyor belt of cloned crap produced by them. They really are ****e.
