    It's actually quite logical

If you're good enough you'll play for a team in your local area and get scouted.

If you're not good enough but you reckon you are, pay for the trials. If they just offered trials for free they'd get thousands wanting to go on them.

Oh, fair enough, I didn't know that the ones scouted get to go for free. Man City did large open trials last year in Leeds, that was free though.

That was a one off though as it isn't a regular thing holding trials for Man City in Leeds as they can't get it well known. Their only way to advertise it would be through their own site, but people that read that aren't likely to be living in Leeds. Whereas when it's in your home town you can hold it regularly and attract thousands so you have to charge.

You're probably quite mis-informed about the amount that attend then.

They do in Alwoodley too, filthy Manc bastards. Luckily only idiots actually think that going to Man City would help their burgeoning career.

Is the open trails a good idea? If you pay for child to go on this and nothing comes out of it surely this will have a bad effect on the child.
If a child is good enough then surely the scouts would know about them.
My Nephew was scouted and he trained with both York and Leeds when he was 8 for 2 seasons. He is no longer on their books but they are still monitering him.
Surely Leeds can not be profiteering from a kids dream to play for the mighty whites, if it was a free open trial then fine but i understand you have the privialage of paying for a trial. I would be interested if any kid stayed on the books from one of these camps untill they are 18?
