Even for Barca, they defended extremely well as a unit - the way they would hunt the ball down and press. And they have the best DM in the world in Busquets who would read danger well ahead of time. Rodgers needs to accept help on the defensive side of the game - if he doesn't, then I fail to see him being a success at Liverpool which is a shame. Tremendous attacking coach, but poor in almost every other aspect.
I would not agree that busquets is the best anything in the world.... but hey.. barca's tactics are clear.. thats why when a side when real power and physique turned up in bayern and barca's players who did the press were not at the same level as they used to be barca got absolutely trounced.
Surprisingly not that sick! I'm more worried that he's going to revert our style of play to our Beckham era. Last year we played the best passing/attacking football in MLS history. That was from a majority of short quick passing around the 18. We already have a player who can play a decent cross field ball to switch the point of attack in Juninho. I fear if Gerrard is used in the Beckham role, we'll go back to sitting back and countering and scoring off set pieces. There's nothing wrong with that, but I though our performances really indicated where the LA Galaxy and MLS as a whole had begun a major improvement. Beckham was in LA and he was only really a major factor in our team in 2011 and 2012. The 3 previous years he was mostly running about in Europe only to get hurt on loan and miss a large chunk of the season.
Yeah but junior is on smaller money so his cross field passes can only be average compared to a top top wage earner like the legend
This is the problem we have with Gerrard at LFC. There is a stat on how Liverpool have more points per game and a better net goal per game without Gerrard starting since 2010, which coincides with Rafa's departure (which is when I thought he became rather average).
There is also a stat that we got more points per game when Torres and Gerrard were missing under Rafa, I don't think you'll find too many arguing we were a better team for it though
For all the love for gerrard, he still got less coverage than that bloke I never knew from those car films who died
You'd think so, wouldn't you? But stats often tell only part of a story. For instance, he/they might have been left out of the "easier" games, ones that we were more likely to win anyway. Stats need to be analysed properly, to take into account all factors and outcomes, to be of any real value.
stats are great to understand something you've not seen but for those of us who can see with our own eyes we can tell the score i feel.
I heard today this is the last tube Gerrard will play at the stadium of light Such reporting is stellar, I wonder if the black cats will have 100,000 outside the ground seeking a glimpse of greatness or what given such hysteria
