I thought it needed it's own thread as there's been a few comments about Kit and his lack of experience may be costing us. Then I read that we need another manager and so on!

What I liked about the Kit appointment was the fact he lives and breaths Fulham. I felt it was a thought out and logical appointment. He did well as caretaker, lifted spirits, gave the players belief and confidence and got some much needed wins under his belt. It felt right. He knew the players, particularly the younger ones and they have all pretty much done well, LVC has been exceptional.

Just for comparisons sake his win percentage since he took over, in the league, is 47%. The Wolves manager has a win percentage (taken from the same weekend of Kits first match, Blackburn) of 35%. The since departed Adams at Norwich is 41%. Norwich and Wolves are just outside the playoff places.

So, all in all, I don't think he's done that badly. Is he the right man for the job? Absolutely.

Should fans be getting on his back when results don't go his way? No. Even Derby have had some bad results, so have Forest who everyone thought were nailed on for promotion.

I've always said that promotion this season isn't important. Stability is the key for me. We've got a new owner, had a ridiculous manager merry go round over 18 months and had some pretty bad PR in terms of how the club handled everything. Couple this with MAF squeezing every last drop before selling and therefore pretty much guaranteeing demotion. So stability, calm, younger players progressing and getting the right vision in place to take us through the next 10-15 years are whats required.

Replacing Kit, whatever happens this season, would be a backward step, IMO.

Totally agree .... I'm fed up of having a new manager every 18 months, would Kit have done worse than our last 3 or 4 managers? He's inexperienced and will make mistakes but I'm happy to accept this lets get behind him he loves the club, give him a good few seasons and see where we are!

Ah I just posted on a similar topic in the other thread, my apologies was an oversight from over-eagerness.

It would be very unfair on him if he were to not make it to the end of the season after all he turned it around for us, although a part of me thinks any sound minded person could have done it after the madness of Magath.

I'm inclined to say he isn't the right man for the job, but he was the best option at the time. In line with my other post on transfer thread, the right man would have more experience and a clear style of play to help with academy players transition. Whether he becomes the right man very much depends on his willingness and ability to learn and adapt to the tactical and man management challenges that will come.

Stability is undoubtedly crucial for us, not just in terms of how the club is run but in the results we get. It might be early to take much from it, but our results so far have been up and down. Maybe we need complete stability in our management before the results follow.

My main concerns are his lack of experience, given the context, his apparent lack of a plan b when it's not working, the narrow way we play and our tendency to invite pressure on when we're protecting a lead.

The danger here, I think, is that in football, as with everything, if you're not changing you're dying and, should he not improve, we run the risk of not getting back up anytime in the near future and watching our better youth players get plucked away.

Having said that I'll continue to support him and hope my worries are unfounded. He deserves more time to shape the squad before I can really judge him. I've seen us play a lot worse and at times it has been good. Watching Hugo jumping under a stream of long balls has got to me a bit though.

Kit has done a good job, having had to deal with what the Crazy German left behind.

The minority of boo-boys I've heard at The Cottage recently need to grow-up, "smell the roses" and remember 1 point from 7 games. It's not Kit's fault that 2014 produced just 12 wins and 8 draws out of 43 league games.

Yes, he needs to be more decisive with substitutions and a Plan B, but I recollect Roy getting similar criticisms at times. Let's see what sort of experience we can get in during January - not that there is so much choice.

There has been too much "Revolving Door" management and we need some stability.

As Kit was brought in after the transfer deadline had passed, he was the obvious choice to take charge of the younger team that was left and most of them he had coached before. He has done well to get points from what started out as a very disjointed team under Magath. I for one am not looking for him to take us into the playoffs this season, because with Young players, they will have their good games and poor games, and it will take him a while to get the youngsters to form a solid team.
Now is the time that Kit will have to decide which youngsters he has seen in the last few months that he believes can make it now and ones which need more time and loan periods, and also decide which experienced players he needs to bring in, if he is to blend them in for next season, this for me will be crucial to him being manager next season. Get the wrong experienced players in and he could well find it working against him, in that they become more influential then him and under-mind him. (Is Kit too much of a coach/nice guy)
It's one of the reasons I'd like to see someone like Danny Murphy as his assistant, Murphy also commands a lot of respect from fellow professionals and could influence transfers. Murphy needs to gain coaching experience before Management, and would he then be a better prospect than Kit to be our manager should we get back up to the Premier? (Then of course later he'd leave us for Liverpool).
 
I'm not sure Kit is a soft touch. He dropped Burn at a time when we only had Hutchinson as cover. Hutch has done alright.
 
I agree that Kit should be given time, and I hope he gets it. Much as I'd like to see Danny Murphy back in some capacity, if Kit's weakness is inexperience, that would be an even bigger factor for Murphy! He'd be a great addition to the coaching staff, but if we want him to be our manager one day, he'd do better to look for a job as manager somewhere lower down the league to learn his craft for five years or so.

Quite. We've always known that when Magath left we'd be a work in progress, particularly as we'd shipped so many players out. Kit was the man then and he's our man now.

The narrow way we play could be due to the fact that Magath shipped all our wingers out. Bringing Kaca back could well give us that extra dimension. The Plan B conundrum remains (the man oft-quoted as our Plan B, Matt Smith, scored a hat trick tonight) but surely getting Plan A honed is the focus.

This is a big month for us, personnel-wise, and I'm looking forward to it. COYW.

Like many others, I'm glad to see Kaca back, but someone noted on another thread that he played in the number 10 role for the reserves the other day. Perhaps Kit is seeing him as Bryan's replacement? If so, that might suggest that we're not about to see a change of formation, merely a change of personnel within in. Hmmm.
 
I'm reporting rather than advocating, Madness. I'd rather see him playing as an out and out winger in a different formation. Still, we'll have to wait and see what Kit has in mind.
 
I agree with other postings Kit has inherited most of the squad, there are some good performances
from those he worked with at youth level.
Let us consolidate our position in this division, see who he buys in the summer and then according to results
voice our opinions

Three losses on the trot tells us something's wrong. Yes, there was a nice flourish of good results when Kit started out, probably because the team hated Felix with such passion, but the honeymoon's over and I think Fulham's showing just how poor we really are. Hopefully Khan didn't put much money into this contract with Kit because he's probably not the right man for the job. I think, unless Kit can someone rally the troops, that we ought to find a new manager come May.

I think last season should highlight the dangers of a rapid turnover of managers. We have to give Kit time, even if he makes some selections which seem a bit mystifying. Despite the results and lack of goals in the last four games, I thought we showed some fight against Bournemouth (second half, anyway) and Wolves. Kit's results overall are good, the current poor run not withstanding. I don't think we'll get sucked back into a relegation fight, and as long as that's the case, then next season will be the time to judge him.

Agreed Captain. More "revolving door" approach is not what we need. As posted when I got back from Cardiff, on that thread: I'm prepared to give Kit some slack, given he's got a darn site more points with the same resources as the Cheesemaker managed to achieve nothing.
