In fairness the ones with Man U histories have not been very successful either and as I have said before Bournemouth and Brentford have done well on Championship and lower level signings.

We've got to give the new guys a chance to show what they can do.

I agree with that, we've had all sorts with supposed better track records.

Revel is an excellent lone front man. Lack of goals is an issue but he did a superb job letting Rotherham play a 4-2-3-1.
I know nothing about the Chelsea kid except he seems keen. As for the Millwall left back.....Could he be any worse than what we've got?
If Fabio was English not Brazilian he'd be lucky to be in a L2 side as a defender.

That could well be the case Oldsparkey, I can only see a meagre transfer fund and all the high earners going.

Looks like our spending has well and truly stopped and yes we will be lucky to finish mid table.

2 strikers and a left back who can play left wing. Any chance of some new midfielders who can hold a ball and pass a ball to our 2 up front?

He should get some first team action there as the 2 cb's who played v Liverpool on Monday had their loan terms end on Tuesday.

I hope he gets plenty of game time and returns to us richer for the experience. He had time at Newport last season and was well thought of there.

Newport are deciding whether or not to take a punt on Darcy Blake. It depends if they can sell on one or two surplus to requirements to free up funds.

Good. Now need to move on Maynard, Guerra and Macheda - don't need 3 big centre forwards. Or rather 2 cf's who can head the ball and one who can't.

Also, where is this be all and end all mid fielder? He will be key to how we progress this season.

    When we are old,
Macheda. How come he scored so well for Birmingham last season at this level?

It must be due to lack of chances.

So as BFB enquires, without the creative midfielder, the amount of scoring opportunities will not increase.

Even if City had Aguerro, he would struggle to score for City

Casanova would struggle to score at City!!!!

You're probably right about Macheda Nin - 10 in 18 games in a side which just avoided relegation. There can't have been any with his head <doh> so Brum must have got the ball into the box much more often for him to use his feet or any other parts of his anatomy.

Sad to say this, but we havent made quality chances aka lots of balls into the box since the days of Jones leadership. Says it all really.

I think getting rid of Macheda would be a mistake. I think his 6.2 size is very misleading, his assets are intelligence of his movement and playing football with the ball at his feet. The idea he's a big 'battering' cf is resulting in comparisons with KWJ when in truth they've nothing in common other than they're both over 6ft. In a better setup side with some sort of supply line I have little doubt he'd score frequently at Championship level.

I think Alf's stats are 1 or 2 in 23 games, for a poacher/finisher that is absolutely horrendous. He's been given a totally uninterrupted run in the side so there's no excuses (other than the **** supply line). I'd much rather we moved him on than Macheda.

As you say though, until we can sort the midfield, get a majority share of the ball any strikers will be feeding on scraps. Maybe that's where Revel will help as whilst his goal record is comparably to Alf he runs after lost causes like there's a tap in waiting at the end of each of them. If I've seen any striker at the CCS in recent seasons that might be able to battle some quality in the aimless **** we tend to knock forward it's him!! <laugh>

Perhaps if we keep Moore between the sticks then the distribution from the back will improve greatly, Marshalls distribution is awful, therefore Moore it is for me. Hope he doesnt chuck Revell in at the deep end tomorrow.

Malone to start and Revell on the bench is my prediction.

I'm sorry for Declan who hasn't done badly and could do with a run in the team to improve his confidence but needs must. What will happen to Fabio I don't know.

Anyone know what's happened on the Feruz story?

Seems to have all gone a bit quiet on that one (unless I've missed something).
