Having read up a bit about him, and asked a few Leeds fans about his ability, it would appear we have a gem on our hands here. Sounds like a perfect replacement for Wilbs when he needs resting. Only thing is, apparently he only gets goals when he starts, he isn't an impact player.

The boss said hes like a giant Ruud Van Nis, in terms of he always seems to find himself space and be in the right place at the right time, only aerially rather than on the ground.

Most people remember the goals he scored against Liverpool- His stats for Oldham show that this was 2 goals of only 9 in 62 games- He is more of a target man than an out and out striker.

He did get 13 for Leeds last season, which isn't a bad return at a higher level.

I think he would be a great asset though that can be used well- Wilbs at 35 cannot possibly maintain the level he has already given and will need breaks, but it would be dangerous for us to rely on him for goal scoring.

Comes over a very intelligent and decent guy. I can remember watching him play for Oldham against Liverpool and he battered their defence and I was hoping we would snap him up (we were still a championship team then). Glad to have him on board and I would give him the nod over wilbs for our next 2 cup games... Or maybe even start them both...

I did like the way he beat the keeper in the air - only for Albie to put it over the bar - good job we were 3-0 up!!

That stat of 9 in 62 doesn't tell the full story whatsoever given that all he scored 14 goals in 21 starts!

Goes to show that you shouldn't rely on stats then-14 in 21 is a much different striker- To be honest, I have seen very little of him other than the game against Liverpool where he was dominant.

But like people say, he is clearly an intelligent lad with it, with a decent footballing pedigree, and there arent enough of those players around. So surprised he went to Fulham for half a mil, if you can get a guy like that for 350-500k, I'd sign him up, and fully trust Cotts knew what he was doing.

Not enough players are signed on how they interview when they come to the club I bet, and I think its important players aren't courted as much as they are interviewed, they should want us as much as we want them, and player by player that will hopefully come.

This is a thread I started on December 1st... Looks like he is coming up trumps, and his goals to games ratio is verrrrrrrrrrrrrry good, when he starts. Should buy him now, as his stock will go up if we get promoted!

Very astute comments among the pages of **** about him being awful.. unfortunately last nights performance took him to literally another level..

BTW, he did have a poor game against Yeovil, but to even the most low level headed buffoon it was clear he wasn't match fit and was lacking confidence, that doesn't make him awful.

Our best bet with him now is enjoy him for as long as we can and wish him luck when he goes!

On the down side of his impressive performance at Gillingham, you would think Kit Simons (who apparently was at the game) would want him back asap! Really hope not
