Sedgefield 2.30 I reckon the favourite, Kalimantan, is worth taking on. Although the jockey chucked his chance away lto by dropping the reins this is it's 4th visit to the racecourse in just over a month. Sticky old winter ground with very little time for recovery in between must have an impact. Added to that he's back up in grade. So I'm having a go with Just Cameron at 9/1. Has been running very consistently and wouldn't need to improve much to nick this. Good luck all.
Arctic Fire. 1 pt each-way at 33/1. As predicted yesterday on the forum by a good looking and much loved member. Intriguing horse really and the big question must be where does the 6YO gelding stand in relation to the rest of the field. Brushed aside by Irving, in November, but finished on the heels of both Jezki and Hurricane Fly last time. The Fire’s rating going into Leopardstown, last time, was a comparatively moderate 147 but was only just beaten by 2 animals both perched on 169. Did Arctic Fire that day run to a figure in the mid 160’s or did Jezki and Hurricane Fly run 20 lbs below their top form??? You pays your money and you makes your pick...
Something going awry with either my phone or the site -Brian Hughes keeps the faith -so should we! Pistol Basc 5/1
Interestingly, Hurricane Fly's 4th victory in the Christmas feature at Leopardstown was the quickest of the 4. In 2010 (Heavy) he won in 4:10.8, in 2012 (Soft) 3:56.50, in 2013 (Soft) 3:59.8 and in 2014 (Soft) a scorching 3:49.5. If nothing else it shows that the old boy retains all his speed. But as we now know, Leopardstown in December and Cheltenham in March are 2 very different places. I'll be interested to see whether Mullins runs both Hurricane Fly and Faugheen in the Irish Champion Hurdle (although I suspect he'll route Faugheen to something easier - maybe the Contenders Hurdle at Sandown, the Kingwell or even the Morebattle at Kelso??)

Just for fun will have a couple of e/w's and a r/f in the first at Bangor (13:10) on Hughesie & Shah Of Persia. Not an easy novice hurdle this; anything can happen!
I'm convinced they're missing a trick here, and that rarely happens with Mullins and Ruby. They've said many times that THE FLY will stay and runs like a stayer, he's even won a 2m 5f hurdle race many moons ago. If I was the owner of The Fly I'd be wanting the genius that is Ruby Walsh to ride, nowt against the other stable jocks but they're not Ruby. So run THE FLY in the World Hurdle where Ruby can ride (his other option is Briar Hill who's been out a long time injured and ran only ok on return). A Faugheen and Fly double is a nice earner, The Fly can be backed at 12/1 for World Hurdle glory.
But surely that’s down solely to the implementation of NRNB rather than some widespread plunge or the inside word from the Mullins camp. Chicken stew with dumplings by the way. 9/10.
Nice e/w Swanny, love the new picture Game stew, which was a tad rich and is now giving me gut rot .................... 5/10
Mr Henderson could unleash Beat That’s half-brother at the weekend. MIGHT BITE entered in a bumper at Warwick (4.05, Sat). This one has obviously had a few issues as he’s making a belated debut, at the age of 6, but given his breeding and the fact that connections have preserved with him then Might Bite could be the real deal and he might be one for forum members to get their teeth, I say teeth, ho, ho, ho, into.
Tony martin sends heathhfield over the pond to bangor for the 2.40, that got my attention, currently 2/1 and worth a punt to boost the cheltenham kitty
Don't know what the better half is doing today, Oddy, we always eat pretty late. You know, before Christmas we were over at friends for dinner and had Reh. Venison really does not agree with me and felt pretty 'umpty later on. Just too rich, I guess. Mind you, could have been other things I shoved down that day, who knows?...........
Swanny we were at the Mother-in-law's for 8 days over Christmas and I'm happy to report I managed to consume 32 bottles of Bavarian beer (half litre bottles). Marvellous mixture of Augustiner and Bayreuther
