This season hasn't gone to plan, we've been ravaged by injuries and never really got going or built up any momentum. It's meant we've taken an early exit from the league cup and find ourselves just shy of the top four with half the season played.

Not quite the title challenge we all hoped and expected.

But that's the way the cookie crumbles!

There is however still half a season to play and we are still in three competitions:

The league, The FA Cup, The Champions League.

What do you think our goal should be for the season? I know our aim should be to win them all! But realistically, in the position we find ourselves in, what will make you happy? What will be a good end to the season?

For me I think ewe can still get third in the league and we should be aiming for the Semis for both cup competitions. We have a decent draw in the champions league and getting far in Europe or winning another FA Cup could save our season.

So, where should we aim for? And where will we end up?

We should definitely be aiming for top 4 and a place in the Champions league again next season, that is the bare minimum really.

As for the FA cup, we could just as easily win it again as we could get knocked out by Hull in the 3rd round.

I think the Champions League might be our best chance at some glory this season. If we beat Monaco, then we could give ourselves a really good chance to push on. The main difference with playing European sides is that they do not have Arsenal figured out like most of the prem teams seems to. The teams ahead of us now will attack and that could suit us IF we set up properly for the counter.

Also I'm waiting to see what happens this Jan window. If we sign Carvalho, and we get Ramsey, Ozil, Wilshere, Arteta, Welbeck, Giroud back in the squad, then the second half of the season could see a vast improvement.

Yep that's what this thread is for, another place to talk about getting rid of the manager. Ffs, can anything else be discussed? It's so ****ing boring, we have an entire thread for it already man!

Let's discuss what we hope the team can still achieve this season, pretty please? :)

What can this bunch of sorry ****ers achieve? An Fa Cup if we avoid Man a City or Chelsea or get a run of home times like last season. Progress in the CL until we meet a proper team, which could be in the last 8 or Semi's. As for the league, I always thought top four was nailed on because that is only thing Wenger is good at, but this sorry bunch are even giving me doubts over that. So it's basically a top four place and an Fa Cup if the draw is kind.

I agree with Sanj (yep that's how bad it is)

We should aim for top 4 but failing that we should do everything in our power to win the Champions League. If we get past Monaco
(which looks unlikely on current form) then we have a decent chance of progressing.

I am completely baffled by Wenger this season, more than any other during his tenure. If we don't attempt the strengthen our defensive midfield options during the January transfer window then I will have lost all faith in Wenger. Becuase even Stevie Wonder can see we need a proper midfield enforcer and have done for probably the best part of a decade.

This team seems to be going through some inexplicable slumps at the moment. We come away with two wins and then produce a poor effort in the 3rd game. Strange just strange. But we do have a good shot in the domestic cups and if we get a good run of draws, then we can probably pick some more silverware. But we do have some clear deficiencies in this team and the Champions league is a step to far for us. The league is also not possible as we are struggling with maintaining form but we're still favorites for a top 4 finish, as long as Spurs and Southampton fall away as expected.

So we're favourites for 4th as long as all the other teams going for 4th stop playing well and don't get 4th?

Let's face it, our performances against QPR and West Ham were hardly vintage Arsenal of old. Southampton away wasn't a complete surprise.

It's a bit like challenging for a boxing world title, the challenger needs to out-box and out-work the champion to get the nod, unless of course he gets a KO :p It's a bit like the rest, we've been more poor than good this season yet we are hovering over the 4th spot. No one else is really good enough to take that Champions league spot away from us.

The upside about securing the 3rd/4th places in the PL is can we actually play any worse! The teams around us have all shown better form than us and that to me is the only positive to looking forward.. the only way is UP!

I'd expect 3rd-4th in the PL, semi's to finals in the FA cup and Semi's in the CL. But as someone mentioned a few weeks back and it's so true... we are Bi Polar! so who knows! Expect the unexpected!

Oh but they are, I bet Southampton or the Yids will take your arrogant 4th place default crown off you.

Like I said, it's for Southampton and Spurs to get it. Wenger might not be the force he once was but he knows how to get into that position, Southampton and Spurs do not.

3-4th in the league is doable but not guaranteed.
the FA cup is a lottery. an away tie in the next round against a top PL team and it could easily be over.
Semis in the CL will require a favourable draw as there should be at least 4/5 teams better than Arsenal in the last 8.

Hi!! You get 4th and say Spurs or Liverpool managed to win the Europa League!!! It doesn't bare thinking about!! If I recall Liverpool won the Champions League in 2005 with a very mediocre team so who knows with your guys. Perhaps the time is due for another poor team to win it for a change. But unlike your team, Liverpool know how to win it, rather like you guys know how to get 4th in the PL.

If I was an Arsenal fan I would be demanding the title. For a club of your stature and support, this should be the aim every season.

Wouldn't matter to Arsenal, there would just be an extra CL place

    'That's how the cookie crumbles.'

Wenger allowed it to crumble by refusing to adequately strengthen the squad, rotate his squad sensibly or adapt his tactics in the face of strong opposition.

    WENGER OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Despite you being the third person not to understand the thread, I'll respond.

I couldn't give a **** whether you want the manager out, the wenger in out stuff is really ****ing boring. Please keep it out of any threads I'm making as it just sucks all the enjoyment out of every discussion lol. There's plenty of other threads for you to spam with your capital letter wenger out stuff.

Either join the discussion about what we should still try to aim for this season and what we can achieve or just kindly **** right off.
