The problem is all the **** in the squad, too many place fillers. There is still alot to change (replace) as well as to add.
Johnson, Skrtel, Borini need to go.
    We are better without Gerrard.
Enrique appears to be just a name on the squad list.
    Lovren and Balotelli are flops.

So thats seven players already that we can do without, not to mention some who are getting in the first team despite not being good enough and should only be squad players.
I'd advocate using some of the youngsters next year to balance out the squad but even so we are along way off from even being the team needed.

    The real reason the owners wont spend in Jan is still the same as its always been. Still burned by the Andy Carroll transfer, hence Rodgers saying;
"I don't think it is a good time to spend," (referring to January)

Rodgers isn't now doing what we all said he should do all along, he's fluked again into a formation and team selection which works and happens to also have a fully mobile team without the donkeys of Balotelli (injured), Johnson (injured) or Gerrard (rested"). It just so happens that this is also what many of us have predicted since the start of the season and have wanted a team without those three. He's not listening to us or doing what we all said, that would be ludicrous, but he has eventually stumbled upon a team which matches what we would have told him to pick - by luck and forced changes.

Couch experts you may call us (me, since I can't speak for others here) but you don't need to be an expert to see faults in the team yet the supposed experts in the media or former professionals still have some innate belief that Gerrard and Johnson are key components in our team. "Expert" is such a loose descriptive term and, on the basis of jokes on most news pages and papers, mostly bollocks.

I don't know what goes on in Melwood, but I know what doesn't go on on the pitch. That he persists in putting out the same garbage performers week in, week out doesn't speak volumes about Rodgers' expertise when compared to mine.

The fact that you even called Lallana a pedestrian suggests the credibility of your post is somewhat low...

We played well on Monday, but the scoreline flattered us. We were ghastly on Boxing Day, but, again, the scoreline flattered us. Let's see what unfolds this January before we get carried away with talk of corners turned and suchlike. Markovic is new to the league, so maybe some leeway there, but Lovren, Balotelli and Lambert are not. I don't expect any dramatic improvement from them on what we've already seen.

The idea that we don't need new blood is laughable, but we need players who can hit the ground running. FSG are right not to give money on 'moneyball' punts that will take half a season or more to make any impact.

  5. We all know Brod is full of it. Have we actually done anything remotely like what he said we would do in any of the five transfer windows we have had since he arrived? <laugh>

Then again, he says just about every possibility leading up to the window opening starting with "unlikely we'll do anything" to "if something comes up we'll have a look" and then "we'll look to improve if we can but won't be pushed into anything" before finishing on "we're hopefully of bringing in some top top players who will excite the fans" <doh>

As Brendan has said, you don`t just stumble on a formation it takes hard work and hours on the training ground.
Now Bollo has been banned, Lovren and Johnson injured and Gerrard too knackered to tie his boot laces you can all see that hard work and hours starting to pay off :)

Wrong wrong wrong, it takes listening to fans on Not606 and their opinions on how the team should be set up, who should play and what they should be doing <whistle>

Sell to buy will be their mantra this window and who could blame them?

    I need a striker boss

Well what about the 3 strikers that you paid over £30m for?

I said some time ago that he's not getting any money in January. He never was. Sell to buy maybe, but no new funds.

    Not good news at all.

It says to me they have said no more money, and to be fair they've given him enough to significantly improve the team.

Not sure it means writing on the wall for Rodgers though.

More PR waffle from him though as I believe he would definitely buy if he could. Now he can't he's "happy with the squad", "the beauty of the owners".

    He's a poet is Rodgers!

I think the owners may be shooting themselves in the foot though as without investment I don't see top 4.

Basically the opportunity to become regular challengers after last year is gone due to wasted money.

    We're back to square one.

We needed to spend big on a forward of real quality and a permanent replacement for Gerrard and or Lucas. We blew our CB cash on Lovren, nothing to be done there but we did need to bring in some real quality into the spine, Gerrard\Allen\Lucas pfft Badon\Lambert pfft Lovren\Skrtel pfft, that's the spinal column of our team and it's ****ing tragic

And yet the pundits are getting a collective hard-on on your behalf over Berahino because he didn't celebrate his 4 goals against Gateshead....

To be fair, if I was a professional footballer, destroying a lower league club's dreams, I'd probably not rub their faces in it by celebrating each goal.

I'd celebrate every goal no matter who it was. Playing against my home town boyhood club that I'd previously played for for over ten years? Yeah, I'd still celebrate :)

Not sure about poet but he's his own best PR guru / spin doctor.

I think that Rodgers hasn't got a ****ing clue what's going on with the transfers and just gets told how much money there is / which players we want when the board/owners have finished playing boardroom twister over that and can be arsed speaking to him. Hence all his PR spin and saying exactly the opposite of what happens as in Balotelli. It's probably been like this from the beginning but he's probably frozen himself out even further from that side of things through the poor decisions he's made this season and the one or two players they did allow him to target.
