I might be wrong, it's not unusual, but I thought we got knocked out the game before the quarter finals of the league cup. Honestly can't remember. But I certainly wouldn't call winning two games and getting to the 5th round of the FA Cup a 'cup run'. Adams is more of a hindrance than a help IMHO.
This is what has surprised me the most so far this season, Ok we are not firing on all cylinders up front but im very surprised at how poor the back 4/5 have been, the only difference being Bassong and i hardly see him being the reason for this season capitulation, im pretty sure its a confidence thing and there is only one answer to that..........
If our players can only register 4 shots with 0 on target against a Lg1 team then they are not as good as we think they are. Hooper thinks he's good enough for England so should be getting 4 shots in alone, incidently I think he has only scored goals in a winning side in 1 game this season Millwall his other goals came in defeats hardly the big game player we hoped for we should have kept Woolfswrangel.
I think we do have one of the strongest squads in this league and a lot of our players would get a starting place in most of the other teams in this league. Our problems isn't that we don't have quality players, its that we keep playing individuals out of their best positions, the manager often gets the tactics wrong and we are unorganised. In short we just aren't playing as a team.
I guess it depends what happens in the league. IF we make the play offs (Automatic promotion is in my mind very unlikely) then no one will care about the cup. I think there is a danger of us not making the play offs. If this is the case then a good cup run would help financially and at least lessen the disapointment.
Here we are again with the 'no bad thing to be out of the cup' apologists. I ****ing despair, I really do. I wonder how those poor souls who made that long trip felt about watching a bunch of fannies who couldn't muster a single shot on target? I grew up loving this competition, and was lucky enough to watch a few good runs. Good luck to the binners today, they have a hard job, but how exciting if they win. I used to love the lotto of the fourth round draw, seems a distant memory. Still, now we've lost, we can get back to losing in the league, hey? Every year, a little bit of my love for this game dies.
Sums up my feelings perfectly- the only reason I wasn't at PNE was because of illness- sometimes illness is a good thing
The FA cup is alive and well the plucky underdogs beat us and Chelsea Arsenal or Man City will win it yet again every so often a Pompy or Wigan will pop up but we have never won it or look like winning it. The loss to non League Luton at home was far worse.
No it isn't, and I have no problem losing to a 'plucky underdog' on merit. Agree that losing to Luton was awful too, but none of that addresses my point.
Yeovil holding Man U 0-0 it's not just Norwich struggling to beat the lower league sides QPR losing 3-0 cheered me up no end.
We just don't know how to lose! Shame that we have to do it all again but at least we will get another full house at FPR and a few extra quid will come in handy.
