Absolutely this. Carver said he would field a strong side. Perhaps we should have read that as:

'I would field a strong side if I was able to pick it myself but as it stands I will field a strong side from the players I've been told are available to play today'.

I cannot really understand how AT LEAST FIVE people who were born in the great city itself can be so complicit in this misery?

I think above all else that's what I cannot get my head around at all. Carr, Charnley, Carver, Stone, Beardsley, all geordies, all Ashley sympathisers, all with bags of experience and all playing their part in making this club as free from ambition and free from passion as it can be. I could maybe understand finding one or two plastic geordies, but the likes of Carver and Beardsley at the very least must care how sh1t the owner's made it??

I always understood Pardew not leaving. As has been proven, he's never getting a bigger job, he was never under any pressure. But that someone as fcking awful as Carver doesn't do the honorable thing and at the very least distance himself from the top job baffles me. That none of them seem to speak out seems incredible. Are we fans all idiotic, are we missing something obvious here that doesn't even need explaining? Is Peter Beardsley happy with his club having two goals each season - break even (min.) and 40 points (min.)? Is he cool with that? It's not as if Peter Beardsley would really struggle to find another job, is it??

I don't understand why they're all silenced, happy to be silenced, and happy with how things are?? I get most of the things with the club - it's a business, it's all about money and advertising, and so on. But this?? Nope, I'm lost.

It'll get worse, transfer window is open, targets outbound Sissoko, Perez, incoming nobody, Carver will do as he is told hence the squad selection for todays match.

I am slightly concerned, as I actually agree with something Robbie Savage has said <yikes>

"For Newcastle, this was the only trophy they could possibly have won this season. If John Carver really wanted the managerial job permanently, why didn't he play his strongest team today? Ridiculous decision. It can't always be about avoiding Premier League relegation for Newcastle United."

But this will be the same Robbie Savage who in 2 months will be claiming the Toon Army are unrealistic in their expectations and demands.

If Savage had a clue, he'd realise that this was an audition for the top job and that Carver passed.

Evening boys, commiserations but the better side on the day won.

Thought you were really awful and Alnwick prevented it from getting worse.

Your fans were very loud which is, as weird as it sounds, difficult to do with a big allocation. We've had some big FA Cup ends in recent years where we've been quite quiet because it's difficult to get a 5k+ allocation singing in harmony but you did so well done on that.

However, you didn't support the team once all game. It was all either telling us how poor we were (we were poor) or booing the team/Ashley. I found that crazy to be honest. Even when Carver came over to applaud you you absolutely rinsed him. I thought you needed to get behind your team more than you needed to boo them. The came out of the blocks flying and we were very lucky that the lensman forgot his glasses!

All the best for the season but I really hope the same Newcastle turns up for the league game :D

The boo boys are out in force just to scare off any half decent coaches that may consider leading our shower of ****e.

Well that was nice. One offside goal, against their 5 chances including a goal and one off the bar.

The decision on the Cabella goal was a ****ing disgrace. The linesman should hang his head in shame and then castrate himself with a rusty corkscrew the piece of **** that he is.
