A defeat at Burnley would make a managerial change vital to our chances of staying up in my opinion. Who would you have?
I would want Paul Clements...but I believe that would send us down (he is not up to speed with the prem, but in a different world we would go down but build stronger and greater)...BUT if we went down all hell would break out financially....and we would find ourselves under transfer embargoes and financial constraints.. We have to stick The collective would take us down quicker than Arry, we wouldn't get Howe only Sherwood is really left...so we must stick ...sorry Lads...Arrys our man PS............. TF is in no position to fiddle about with QPR at the moment either
If we were where Leicester are I would say get rid of Harry. However, as much as his lack of tactical nous does my head in, I think a change would destabilize us too much.
No option this season but to stick with Harold as much as it pains me to say that....... Next season after Harold has retired to take up punditry a team of Eddie Howe/Paul Clement would be interesting.....
[QUOTE"Stroller, post: 7452720, member: 1025402"]Don't you think that the Palace and West Brom changes have made them more likely to stay up, Col?[/QUOTE] I do mate. I just feel that knowing our place a change would make things worse.
As a bloke, Harry seems ok. As a manager, I don't really like him. I think there are better out there and would prefer a younger manager who understands the game. But I think we should not change manager until the end of the season, no matter what happens. It would be suicide for us. Also, it's no use naming 'good lads' that we all like, such as Sir Les. What track record and experience does he have? There's no way I'd hand the team over to him or Clint, etc. Hoddle is a proven manager, on the other hand. I'd take Hoddle any day but just not now. Let things continue and we'll have Hoddle at the end of the season.
Right now the only person I'd take would be McLaren. If he'd come. At the end of the season, I'd go for Paul Clement, with Hoddle moving to Director of Football.
Doesn't always happen that way Strolls. Fulham changed a few times last year and still dropped. Cardiff changed and dropped. Norwich and Wolves panicked late in the last few years and their replacements were worse. I can still see the look of sheer terror on Terry Connor's face when faced with a reporter at the end of each game. We stick with 'Arry. He'll bring us through.
Yep. I forgot about McLaran as an option. If Derby fail to gain promotion this season, he'd be all the more likely to leave.
We should have changed about last March. Or September ando got in Pulis IMO. I went with Laudrup from what you put up Stroller but Colin or almost anyone would do better.
Harry for the rest of the season, then he retires. THEN Sir Les is given a ten year contract, assisted by Clint Hill with Hoddle as director of football. This is why Les was brought in for what seems now like a made up job. Stability is the word. You heard it here first, folks! Edit: Only just noticed that Hoddle/Les/Clint was one the the choices. There's me thinking I was clever
If the Rs stay up then Redknapp probably retires having achieved his goals. If we're relegated then he steps down anyway. On that basis I say stick with him until the end of the season, but in the meantime start doing our homework on good up-and-coming young foreign managers in the same way that Southampton have done successfully with Pochettino and Koeman. I don't know how dire the situation really is if QPR are relegated. There's enough in the media about FFP and substantial fines to assume there will be a difficulty of this ilk. But I have to also believe that the club has a contingency plan in the event of relegation such that none of this would be a massive surprise to them. If the only plan is to gamble by spending yet more on players this window then these people aren't fit to run a bath, yet alone a football team. Back to Redknapp. It disappoints me that so many on here are against him, and have been since the early stages of last season (or perhaps earlier). You may not wish to give him sufficient credit for our promotion, but you only have to look at where the likes of Reading, Wigan, Bolton, Fulham or Cardiff are, or even teams that have challenged for play-off places in recent times, like Brighton, Blackpool or Forest, to know that actually we've done OK by comparison. Margins are small in football. I reckon if we'd picked up 3-5 points on the road to date, many of his detractors would be silent for now, regardless of their bafflement at some of his selections in certain games. In the opening pages of Warnock's book he bemoans the fact that football managers and prime ministers have the occupations that most people feel they can perform better, despite zero experience and little qualification. I'd like Redknapp to have made a number of different decisions to date, just as I'd liked certain members of the team to have made different choices in certain games, but on balance we're doing OK, which just about meets my expectations for this season.
I voted to stick with Harry for this season, but I definately want a change for next season whatever division we are in
Stability needed now, Harry and a lot of luck will keep us up by the skin of our teeth but we should be considering anew manager for next season. Make the decision early.
I'd stick with Harry for the rest of the season and see where it takes us. Too disruptive to change now in my opinion.
I don't think we'll be spending money in this window. I expect two or three loan signings and, assuming they are of reasonable quality, we should have a squad capable of staying up. I have deep concerns about the manager, though, and would like a change now. It's not easy to come up with an immediate long-term alternative, so my preference would be to stick with what is already at the club (Hoddle/Ferdinand/Hill) and to reassess at the end of the season.
Are there better managers out there - yes. Does changing managers mid-season in a relegation battle improve your chances of staying up - jury out on that one. We have to stick with Harry.
