Was just going to say the exact same Bob. It would seem that none of our defenders can jump when defending crosses. Glad to see Gomis grab a brace
Straight forward win really that you expect from a very poor side like the opposition was. Just another day at the office for a game like this. The lads played the game right and all we need in the transfer window is a strong Snow white as we already have a team of midgets.. seriously we do need some height in the squad as we are being out jumped the majority of the time...
6-2 win great but tremble was poor and lost two sloppy goals but 89% happy with that being fa cup against lower opposition which has caught us out in the past,
A very good work out for Gomis, which he needs if he is to establish a platform this month, and good to see Dyer in the thick of things, this boy needs to be always played on the right wing, so he can get back to top form and scoring, lets hope Monk sees some common sense this month, we have a very good front line if used properly, Emnes played well with assists and Gomis looks very promising, though we were playing League 2 side, so not getting too carried away....................
It was very small and bobbly, thought the lads coped really well with it. You would have noticed in the first 20mins the amour of time we passed the ball out of play. Dyer turned with the ball and went out of play, his face was a picture.
Gomis my MOTM lad had a real good game, not just his goals but his all round game. Will have done his confidence a world of good.
As seen previously Emnes and Gomis play well together For me- Tremmel had a dodgy game but their first goal was out of the Fabianski school of clearance. In his defence he did have a very disrupted back four in front of him. Jazz - some uncharacteristic loose passes in the first half but a very good game with first rate work in attack and defence. Got in to block in dangerous positions. Amat - didn't stand out and positionally was caught out but I'd put it down to unfamiliar partnering and our genre lack of quality in defensive positioning. Bartley - One crucial stop but again didn't stand out (Neither centre back was effective in the air which is worrying.) Tiendalli - stood out as being very busy, but always looks like he's one tackle from being sent off - not sure if could step in to Premier League side. Carrol - didn't notice him in the first half but came alive in the second and took his goal well (as with others he's easily knocked off the ball) Fulton - seemed completely lost and as a result made others look out of place (Carroll, Emnes, Jazz & Amat) Nathan - for me he had a poor game but has been getting rave reviews elsewhere. Took his goal well but looks shorn of confidence. Emnes - Very solid with excellent touches going forward Gomis - At last he's hit the target and has scored again - more industrious today and links well with Emnes, unselfish and as on Thursday, he did a lot of good work away from the striker's role. Barrow - sharp and got a good going over, neat goal and worked hard but not yet good enough to be putting pressure on the established wingers. Routledge - injected a spark that had been missing and it was good to see him smiling. King - passed me by Positives - good work out, confidence builder for most, Gomis & Emnes showed up, Carroll, Fulton, Emnes, Gomis, Dyer and Barrow got into the penalty area to support attack, well taken goals. Negatives - (allowing for unfamiliarity affecting individual performances) Too often we made Tranmere look good, gave away the ball too easily, defending high balls, big spaces in the centre of the field. Spurned chances (churlish after scoring 6 but it could have been double) and too many long speculative passes.
If he does dai , youll say " Lets see him do that again" and so on ..Bony , the highest scoring striker in the Premier in 2014 is away so Gomis is the next in line to abuse as not good enough...amazing ...oops , sorry dai , ill leave it up as punishment ...doh..it was phil's quote..
it's a start ,could have had 4/5 today so as long as he's getting into decent positions (which he is ) then I think he'll do well for us
I certainly could have. The lad put in a good performance, given time and now a run in the team he will get more goals. But I hope people don't put too much pressure on him, as we have other players who should be chipping in with the goals as well.
