    Can you not read?

Because it's not often the you get a GAA player moving to Rangers.

  2. Didn't this boy just play at youth level - i.e he played at the same level as most young Irish boys?

Why don't you get "GAA players" signing for Rangers?

I presume this is the GAA's fault and not innocent, all-inclusive Rangers....

    FFS.<doh>

You just said you ditched the disgraceful policy 24 years ago!!!

    This is not news.

The fact he is a Catholic is not news.

The fact that he came from GAA is not any kind of news to Celtic fans.

WHY DID YOU POST THIS COMPLETE NON EVENT HERE?

Its a sad reflection on Rangers football club that their fans praise the signing of a young 17 year old from Co. Derry.
Its even sadder that a Belfast newspaper would report Rangers signing a 17 year old Catholic.
This 17 year old like others before him played soccer and Gaelic football locally. He was not recognised as particularly
    proficient in either code.

I suppose when a club is desperate to pedal a good news story then they can become very desperate.

The real sign that Rangers have moved on will be in 4/5 years time, if Rangers still exist, and this new boy wonder misses
an open goal at Ibrox against Celtic in a winner takes league title clash, will the fans give him a consolatory round of applause
or will they curse him out of Glasgow.

I know, and isn't it ironic that he says that his club moved on 24 years ago yet this Catholic signing was enough to get it's own article - on the Celtic board.

Correct, the same disgraceful policy that still exists at Celtic, at boardroom level of course.

Like I said, the editor of the Belfast telegraph begs to differ

    Correct

I would beg to differ, quite a while after posting this, people are still commenting on the topic.

Thought a lot of you might be interested, 70 odd posts pretty much confirms that. <ok>

Your right, very sad, we should be rounding up the mob with pitchforks and torches! <doh>

What a shock! A Belfast paper reporting about the 1st lad from here signing for Rangers from a GAA background. They did the same when Glentoran did likewise.

So you think Rangers went to this paper telling them to publish this story?

Yeah because Rangers will be out of business in 4-5 years time. Keep dreaming. <laugh>

Can I ask you this, did Samaras get a consolatory round of applause when he missed that penalty? Did Celtic get a consolatory round of applause when they lost to ICT? Or were people furious?

No matter who it is, if you miss a sitter against your rivals that could hand you the league then you WILL get pelters!

    Medro Pendes.
I know truth and yourself are only ever on the same wavelength by accident.
You seem to take great delight in saying that Jock Stein was not offered a place
on the board when he stepped down as manager. Of course for once you were
correct. What you had omitted to post was that Celtic, had on at least one
previous occasion offered Mr Jock Stein a Position on the board and he had turned
them down. To most normal people it was not unusual not to offer Jock a position
on the Board as he left the position of management. It is rarely that anyone even
as unique as Jock to be continuously offered a position on the Board.
But Hi Pedro don't let the truth get into your bigoted way.

It's like talking to a brick wall with you Pendes.

One final thing; the number of comments on this article doesnt indicate an interest in the actual topic seeing as half the comments are asking why you put this on the Celtic board and the other half calling you halfwit.
That's not quite the same kind of 'interest' you are claiming.

Pedro no one is arguing with you re what happened after Jock Stein stepped down as Manager. Stop arguing with yourself. You will only get confused.
Mr Stein had been offered a position on the board on at least one occasion before that. Mr Stein refused saying managing a club like Celtic was a full time job
and he would not have time or wiliness to go on board.
Having stepped down from the Managership chiefly because of his serious car accident that he had suffered previously and which had taken a lot out of him and was no
longer as capable the Celtic board initially offered him a fund -raising development role. With the wonderful value of hindsight this job, although important would not have been as arduous as the route he chose. His family would have preferred if he had accepted it and maybe he would then have been offered a position on the board again.
It would have been inappropriate to offer him a position on the board immediately after he stepped down, what way would Celtic have felt if a board member accepted the managership of Leeds.
Pedro you are an evil bigot and has been for quite a while. You have no love for Rangers or any other team just a hatred of Celtic and Neil Lennon.
What a sad life. Just hate hate hate.

That was a lovely story you just made up. He was offered the pools job. A slap in the face for your greatest ever manager.

Like I said, just because you call me an Evil Bigot it doesn't make it so.

But i'll give you the opportunity to post any bigoted comments or remarks that I have made.

    I'll wait.<whistle>

You are wasting your time, Medro will soon be telling us how Jock Stein never got the job because he was a Proddy. He was also a member of the Orange Walk and had a tattoo of King Billy on his chest.

I'm betting Medro is not old enough to have ever seen Jock in the flesh. He can spin all the propaganda he wants because we've all heard it before, usually from people not informed or old enough to know any better.
