No future in the game, if we win, our Saturday league match gets cancelled in the next round, if our rivals at the top get knocked out in the third round, they play their league match, assuming the team they are playing are knocked out, if they win, this will put us under pressure, we are faced with playing extra games, 46 league games is tough enough, and bear in mind, ourselves and Norwich have the longest distances to travel over the course of a season, because of our geographical position, if we have an extended run in the cup, the position worsens. A draw means we have an extra game, so possibly the team we play for the following league match, have the benefit of extra rest, not forgetting we could get injuries, I believe McGoldrick is one booking away from suspension, if he plays against Southampton and gets a card, we will lose him for a vital league match. Play eleven reserves, and hope for the best
I love the F A Cup it still holds a certain magic for me but I can see logic in not playing a full strength side with regards to injuries and suspensions. Will Saints play a full strength side given their excellent league position? Back to the original question, 11 / 2 definitely worth a punt.
You boys could be dangerous to us, I went up to Burnley and Sheffield and Saints were beaten on both occasions due to the passion and heart of the teams we played. Saints only saving grace is we are playing at home, and if we score first our fans will get behind us we may win easily. But only if we score first and early in th game?
We do have the potential to get a result against you but that all depends on if we go full strength. Gerken has already been confirmed as being the 'keeper for this one and in my opinion isn't as good as our first choice Bialkowski. One of the reasons why we are towards the top of the league is because everyone in the squad has performed when asked to play due to injury etc so although Mick may change things around a bit one thing you can guarantee is that whoever is on the pitch will run themselves into the ground. I hope that it will be an entertaining and competitive game.
I think that is a guarantee. Saints will certainly need to take you lot seriously! All the best and your fans may make it more of a home game for you than us?
Good for the coffers and the fringe players though JWM, We don't have enough defenders or strikers to rotate much and that could be a worry for some who play a lot of games.
Same here. Which is why Koeman will put out a strong side. The side he may put out: Forster, McCarthy, Fonte, Alderweireld, Targett, Schneiderlin, Reed, Ward-Prowse, Davis, Long, Pelle
