Does anyone know what the record transfer fee for a 2nd tier non league player is? Because 250k is a hell of a lot for that level.

250k is just a figure Parmenter would have put in place to scare clubs like us off. Trust me, if he were to join us it would be for a figure considerably less.

I doubt very much if we have any money left for transfer fees.

If I were boss, I would either

    a) Offer a swap deal Birchall for Stefan Payne to Dover (then poss get a loan forward in as cover)

or b) Offer a swap deal Cody Mac for Jack Payne to Norwich as we seem to have a well equipped central midfield now.

I'm not sure J.Payne would interest Norwich in the slightest right now. They'll be on the hunt for players good enough to go straight into the first team to survive the Premier League.

    The S.Payne suggestion however...

We could probably get that down to £5k plus luncheon vouchers.

I don't believe getting rid of Jack Payne is necessarily the right answer. If Cody is leaving on a perm, Norwich should want it to be in this transfer period. With a year left on his contract there is certainly money to be made whilst the iron is hot. I really hope that he is still based in the south east, that could be keeping him cold for deals with Oldham, Scunthorpe etc.

Goals are gold dust at any level so there must be plenty of teams waiting in the wings for both of them right?

never say never with cody as he may well find himself still at norwich towards the end of the transfer window and looking for a way out and maybe we can pounce then. personally i think loaning out s.payne is a great idea give him a chance to prove himself over a 6 month period and see if hes worthy of a place in the teasm/a new contract at the end of the season
