    New Contract or Release?

I am pretty sure everyone on this forum has been frustrated at Maya at some point in his Saints career as he does make mistakes but for me he deserves a new deal. Happily sits on the bench without a fuss (despite being an experienced international defender) It must be difficult not playing for weeks then being thrown in at the deep end. Thoughts????

New contract. But I think he may go, but hopefully I am wrong.

Most improved player this season (not that most of them were actually here last season though!) by an absolute mile.

New contract. He's our 3rd choice centre back and only 26. He's improving every season.

Yeah, sign him up, you can count the "mistakes" he has made with us on one hand and he has always looked calm and composed when called upon. Three managers have made good use of him, so I think that he has the right personality that fits into the squad ethos.
I'm always one for " if it ain't broke don't fix it" and we have younger players that will come through and replace him naturally, in time.

Controversial, I think Jose's spot could be in a bit of danger.

He has improved season upon season, Doesn't complain about being 3rd choice. Consistent, Versatile And effective in a 3 at the back. Absoloutly new contract.

Definitely give Maya as new contract. He has improved massively this season
Also if we want to play with three CBs on a number of occasions, then we will need at least five CBs in the squad and he has proven he is very comfortable in this new structure

I remember I wished Maya well, but thought he shouldn't get a new contract....how things change in few months. He is a good CB and it can be hard to keep players happy if they don't start regularly...Maya has shown he can DAJFU if needed and doesn't cause trouble if not selected. However, that depends on Toby signing....if he doesn't, we need another quality CB.

I like him and would reasonably pleased if he were re-signed.

But if he weren't, I would probably be okay with that as well. It depends on if Alderweireld signs or if Gardos proves himself to be Yoshida's equal or better. Also on who might be ready to take a step up from the Academy/U21. I trust the Black Box scouting dept. so it's quite possible they have targeted a replacement.

I was thumbing distastefully through the Daily Fail while waiting to get a haircut this afternoon, and came across their summaries of all the clubs' successes and failures this year. We came out quite well, but our biggest failure has been Florin Gardos, who apparently was sent off in his last game against Sheffield United and hasn't played since. Who was that substituted for Yoshida second half against Chelsea then?

My biggest gripe with him was his distribution which seems to be improving.

It was just lying there in the barber shop, lying being the operative word. My only excuse is that the alternative was the Sun!

Crikey, I've just realised I've hugely insulted you. There's no way you'd buy the Daily Fail or The Sun. <doh>

    Apologies.

The same as people moan about popular TV programmes...we aren't all the same. And people who dislike things make more noise than the people who quietly like something.

I read the Daily Mirror which I get for the Quizword which I can sometimes complete, I seldom read the Sports section except when we have won!
