Yeah lets appoint some Frenchie who looks as out of his depth as half the french players have. Remember we won't be at the top table for a Wenger or Houllier. We'll get a Tigana, Perrin or Santini!

Why go abroad, it makes no sense. There are plenty of good domestic managers who know the game here.

Getting an English manager is as risky imo. A fine number of bottom feeders out there as well as people who haven't managed in years. A young guy may work (Howe perhaps) but just because he has done wonders at Bournemouth doesn't mean it will work here. Some managers are just suited to one particular club.

I would much rather a young manager than any of those pond life Jobs for the boys types. Not Robinson though. I find him repulsive and I hate anything to do with MK Dons.

Risk involved with any appointment we make. As I say we can forget the top foreign managers too. As much if not more risk taking on some foreign manager than a young domestic appointment.

A lot of managers would accept these terms. For example half of the premier leagues current managers. Who also have very little say in first team appointments.

If he really wants to Pulis CAN go to West Brom and force the issue and get his own way with signings, I guess the only hitch being that West Brom control there finances very tightly because they have very little money in the first place... If you where too look at our transfer policy you will find that really it's no different from the majority of clubs in the league! Sunderland, West Brom, Liverpool, Everton, Tottenham, Arsenal, Southampton and Villa all control there transfers and finances because that's the modern game. If you're like Pulis and other currently UNEMPLOYED managers and are against that ideal, you won't survive much longer in the league. The day's of spending a billionaires money until the club is in debt is gone, the £300 million that Ashley invested into Newcastle to stabilise our finances, and then our relegation should point out to everyone what happens to a club when you allow managers like Graeme Souness and Sam Allerdyce to spend money without limits.

Managers are coaches, they set up formations, set up training plans, look at the strength and weaknesses of the teams and organise what's happening at the club from a footballing perspective, I wouldn't give my PE teacher 30 million pounds and tell him to get my local team to league 2 and I wouldn't give a manager in the prem £100 million to get us avoiding relegation because 90% of the time it results in nothing more than the team STILL being relegated and the team going in debt.

Btw, the team selection nonsense is paper talk nothing more. Ashley is currently on holiday in Barbados and wasn't even around for when our manager was leaving the club, do you seriously for a second believe he's sitting on the edge of his seat every Friday picking our team for the Saturday. Complete and utter tosh.

If this drags on much longer people will start mentioning Graeme Souness <yikes><yikes><yikes><yikes>

And why hasn't Pardew been announced as Palace manager yet anyway? In the time it's taken for this story to break and nothing actually happen, West Brom have managed to sack one person and apppoint another ...:emoticon-0112-wonde

I hope to God Carver isn't seriously in the running. Apart from having very little experience in management, the way he spoke to our fans at Southampton I think it was, earlier in the season was indefensible. The tosser.

A late entry for the job. Shola has left his Turkish club and is on his way home. Rumour has it he'll be the new player/manager or going to Palace as the Mackem slayer so that Pardew can break his hoodoo.

Sky reckon that the hold up is to with whether Andy Woodman is staying with us or going there. Doesn't want to leave Freddie.

Graeme Souness might be a good appointment. Knows the club inside out, bring some discipline, has a great track record...

seems the betting on a Shola return is hotting up

Shola Ameobi terminates his contract with Gaziantep half-way through a one-year deal

Shola Ameobi is heading back to Newcastle after cancelling his contract with Turkish second tier side Gaziantep BB.

But the experienced striker – backed by Alan Pardew to one day become United manager – is returning for family rather than football reasons :emoticon-0141-whew:

The more I think about this, it's going to be Carver. He'll tow the Ashley line, over the moon to be given his big chance he won't say a word out of line. He'll be given the job until the end of the season, probably just keep us up, then Ashley will give him the job full time mid season when everyone has lost interest in the club and can't be arsed to complain.

Sod off Ashley, you fat howwer.

The ST renewal deadline is in Feb so that may play a part.

Being his brother's coach, is that classed as a family reason?

Slightly worried about that as well. Some of the **** Carver was coming out with at the press conference was very worrying and also pretty embarrassing. If he does become permanent manager it will be a ****ing disaster.

You wouldn't believe the bollocks Merson and Cottee are spouting on Soccer Saturday. We're not a mid-table club, we're nowhere near as good as Stoke, we need a Geordie manager like Bruce. The pick of the bunch - Merson says Sissoko's agent might turn around now and say "I only signed here because of Pardew"! I can't believe he's paid to come out with this bullshit. Such a disgusting fat ****

Carver has failed his first test for me. Still has Goofy playing and picks a useless Riviere. Surely with us being at home this was a game for Cabella. 4 defenders out of 6 subs. Seems very negative to me but hope he proves me wrong.

I thought his first failed test was the 8 game run with him in charge last season. I think we managed a paltry 2 goals and only 1 win in all 8 games.
