I would suggest whoever you get, the Toon supporters will be disappointed. You can discount either Howe or Koeman immediately - neither will want the job.

Despite being such a hotbed of football and a level of support that is legendary, it always seems the case to outsiders that you are fated not to match the fan's expectations and the constant turn around of mangers only serves to make the success that the club craves seem more remote. There is a fantastic book about football called "the footballer who could fly" which I read earlier in the years which absolutely nails why the game matters so much to the city. Anyone coming to this book will appreciate just how ingrained football is in Newcastle and why the city needs a club who has managed to get it's house in order. I can't see NUFC achieving this whilst Ashley is at the helm as he appears to be so divisive . If ever a club deserved more, it is Newcastle and, as was stated in the post by the QPR fan, I think most fans of other clubs would not resent Newcastle having success. However, the club seems to lurch from one calamity to another, never really cementing itself a position that the club actually merits. I can't see the cycle being broken but would not be at all surprised if McCoist got the job. It is a notoriously poisoned chalice and I can't see the position attracting someone too high profile. Anyone coming in will need to realise that, in it's current state, the club cannot really have aspirations of getting in to the top six.

The way the game is evolving with youth development being so central to a club's success, I think Newcastle risk being surpassed by other clubs such as ours. Newcastle would really benefit from following Southampton's example.

I was just thinking, have all of our managerial appointment been from the unemployed queue/internal for the last 20 years or so?

    Keegan
    Dalglish
    Gullit
    Robson
    Souness
    Roeder
    Allardyce
    Keegan
    Kinnear
    Shearer
    Hughton
    Pardew

With that in mind, we probably need to look at who currently doesn't have a club.....Adkins, Irvine, Warnock!!!!!!

The club is going nowhere except backwards under Ashley, we all know that. So much so that some of us (namely me) refuse to go to home games or buy merchandise until the fat man sells us on.
Ashley not Pardew is the main culprit for the current plight of the club. What is so frustrating is that with just a bit more investment in the playing squad we could regularly be competing for the top 6 positions which would bring extra sponsorship revenues so would be well worth the effort.
The next manager won't be an improvement on Pardew, I know this as we know Ashley has no ambition other than making money.

Adkins deserves another shot. He was fantastic at Saints and unfortunate to get the sack in favour of Poch as the club sought to raise itself to a higher level which was necessary given the level of investment in the club. However, Adkins always strikes me as a gent and his modesty would make me think that he would be unsuitable to Newcastle. No doubt he will attract a lot of interest yet I'm not sure that a club with huge expectations from the fans would be a good move for him even though I think he can still do a good job for someone.

Not a bad manager in the least, just at a very very poor club. In more ways than one.

Rumours of Nigel Worthington being the next NUFC manager. Time to pack season ticket in if true.

I've just been over the Town, was up by SJP, and there seems to be an orderly queue growing for interviews.
Could have sworn it was Dennis Wise at the front.

Rumour has it, that he would be interested.

Some quite hilarious views being given here about Newcastle United & Mike Ashley!

The thread is purely about the next NUFC Manager <ok>

It'll be Ashley and Charnley spreading the rumours, testing the water.
Any rumour disliked too much and the twat will be in with a chance of the job....

Why do other team supporters care about Pardew hopefully leaving us? Worry about your own clubs you pack of tampons.

    Being serious for once.
    Who will be advising Ashley.
    Surely can't be Charnley.

By his own admission, he knows little about football management, but he must be taking advice from someone.

Going back to people he knows perhaps, Kinnear, Wise.

The three favourites on Oddschecker across all bookies are Bruce, Sherwood and Nigel fecking Worthington. If it's either of the latter two, I'm jacking it all in. I'd give Bruce a shot, support Pedro, be content with a modicum of foreign ambitions (Garde, Galtier, De Boer) and could just about suffer Pulis or McCoist for a few months. But all signs point to Nigel Worthington, don't they, and with that so endeth my support for Ashley's NUFC!

Suppose because it's interesting news when f all is happening... This is essentially loose women for us male gossiping nancy's.

Don't mind it, just think all these people with an interest will be woefully disappointed if they think we'll be getting anybody exciting or different.

I do think the next poster to use the words "in peace" should be banned though. Just spit out what you have to say, and it'll be obvious whether it's in peace or not. You're wasting my life writing that sentiment.

Actually meant "Oddschecker". So every bookie has taken Worthington from 100/1 at about 2pm to 7/2 tonight. Ticks every box. It's fcking frightening.
