I think they are just playing hardball over the price ! They obviously don't want to fund new players for the new season so this will go down to the wire. Has somebody told Neil to hang in there and wait , otherwise why would he have just not walked by now ? The danger is new owners will have no time to buy players before the start of this season and have to wait until January when we will sit firmly at the foot of the table.
agree with the concensus that its brinkmanship..and its not solely just about the money, these men have huge egos.its about winning too!
Now we're getting to the heart of it. These guys have pots of loot, the money, although important because there are no mugs involved, isn't the whole story. They've got to be seen to be getting a good deal and not looking as though they were conned or forced into something. Perception is king here.
It's timing - the damage is just beginning - how far will the Goons let it go - will they soldier on as owners - Briatore will believe they can make a success of it - Eccles is a realist and will know that it's unlikely. -twins is right that perception is important between competing billionaires, and it goes beyond that - they've made their money by business acumen and by being mean! In the 1960's Paul Getty's Texas oil money made him one of the richest men in the world. He lived in a big place near Guildford, and he installed pay phones around the house, so his guests didn't run him up a big telephone bill...
Yes Goldhawk, the bigger they get, the meaner they get. Do you think they'll hammer out a deal? Or will neither of them stump up for the calls?
Can see this getting messy and as mentioned before we'll probably go into the start of the season minus tarbs and no extra firepower. Oh well just loving that fact I can join in the banter down the pub now (everyone in Hastings seem support the big 4, supported them since they were nippers they did.ha)
I think they'll be a deal -twins, the question is whether it will be too late to maintain our Premiership status...or whether we'll have to climb the Championship ladder all over again
I wouldn't mind that at all tbh - provided we've got the right owners, development policies and manager by that time. Nowt wrong with the Championship - especially when you're top all season!
