1) A medical proves he is fit now, not that he isn't injury prone! 2) Starting games does not make you a great player, i could have played 100 games in the PL, that wouldn't make me a top class player! Kilbane had played more games than that in the period (106), so on this basis, shall we bring him back? 3) But O'Shea offers more than Brown in terms of his versatility, and Samba would solidify the whole spine of the team, these 2 players would have a much more significant impact than Brown (IMO, again )
1: ah but it will it was his leg break in 2000 that he keeps having problems with (its not lots of different injuries, maybe 2 or 3 but its the leg break he got that is his downfall) (or so i read somewhere the other week) 2: He is starting games for Man U, in Championship winning/ECL final teams, a lot different than Kilbane for Everton 3: O`Shea has more veratility, but isnt as good as Brown as a defender IMO, its like saying ricco is a better player than Evra and Gareth Bale as he can play in their positions, but he can play in more positions than them (but obviously he isnt as good as either in the positions they play) Brown is more in the Carvalho mold of defender, not a big brute of a defender like samba, we already have big brutes with Turner ans Bramble (but brown is 6`1" as well so he isnt small) I just think he would give us another dimension in defence. So its a huge yes from me if you hadnt already gathered lol
Fine with me mate, we can beg to differ, such is life. I'm not against Brown coming, but of the 3, he's the one i'm least interested in. Be a tedious world if we all start unanimously agreeing with eachother!
O'Shea is better than Brown. Everytime I see Brown I can recall errors but O'shea hardly puts a foot wrong and for £3million quid he is arguably just as good as Dann/Johnson and they are quoted at £10 million. Easily one of the bargins of the summer if it comes off.
Sunderland are getting closer to a deal for Manchester United utility man John O'Shea, chairman Niall Quinn has revealed. The Black Cats launched a triple bid for O'Shea and United team-mates Darron Gibson and Wes Brown. Quinn expects fellow Irishman O'Shea to be the first of those signings. All three are out-of-favour at Old Trafford and Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to let them leave. Several clubs are reported to be interested in the trio, but Quinn is hopeful he can bring O'Shea to the Stadium of Light. He said: "We are in there trying hard for John and will see if something can unravel. We feel it is getting closer. "John had good family news in the last few days with the birth of his child. We've had to back off which is only correct. But the players are back in and we will see if something can unravel." Arsenal and Stoke are among the clubs rumoured to be rivalling the Black Cats in their pursuit of O;Shea. Quinn added: "There is interest, naturally. All you can do is make your own pitch but we would love if John chose us." Quinn says a possible deal for Gibson is not so imminent and more work will need to be done to complete the midfielder's transfer.
Is it wise to offer a 4 year deal to the 31 year old Brown ? I'd take him on a 2 year deal , but 4 is too long IMO.
