All teams are in the same boat.

Gus Poyet: Sunderland boss says Christmas schedule a 'disgrace'
Sunderland head coach Gus Poyet says playing twice in three days over Christmas is a "disgrace".

The Black Cats head to Aston Villa on Sunday just 48 hours afterlosing 3-1 at home to Hull City.

"I know that Boxing Day games are a tradition and I accept that and think we should maintain it," former Chelsea midfielder Poyet, 47, said.

"But I think that then playing on the 28th is a disgrace. We shouldn't be playing then, we shouldn't."

He's got a point to be fair. And we're playing again on the 1st & 4th January.

It is a pretty ****ing stupid schedule, i have to say. Far too many games at perhaps the most injury enabling time of the season. Heavy pitches, very cold weather, tired legs etc etc. And in our case, a wafer thin squad.

But i'd rather we try and get the 'Ull game out of our system as soon as possible.

I agree with him. Is it March we only play 3 games?

I like the boxing day and new years day game but having them play in between is a joke.

All it does is help the top sides with big squads because God forbid a team broke into the top 4 and upset the status qup

If I was chairman of the FA, I'd have a break from January to April. No fun for fans or players going to games in the cold.

What squad? we're injury ravaged at the minute mate. It's OK for the City's and Chelsea's as they have strength in depth but we don't, in fact we're struggling to put a back 4 in today.

I agree with him. I think the weekend before Christmas, boxing day and new years day are enough games for the period. Cancel one of the precious international breaks at the start of the season to accommodate the extra game.

They are professional athletes who will have to run about for 3 hours at most in the space of 3 days. I think it's pathetic when they moan.

Far too much common sense here for it ever to be adopted.

Did you not notice the 19YO that Villa brought on and caused us more problems than the other lot put together?

It might be in the rules we could do the same.
