That method only works if you never have to see her again if she rejects you...and that is not the case. If you pay her enough attention you will soon get given the green light (if that is ever going to happen). If she is not interested at all, at least you can act normally (for you ) around her.

Heard about that. How awful. Though the pilot apparently radioed in to request a route diversion because of bad weather.... surely bad weather alone is not enough to cause a crash? With the Air France crash in 2009, despite flying through the ITCZ, that mostly came down to pilot error. But there's a reason I don't like flying.....
Weather a factor, but the crash will come down to the same basic reasons it usually does. Shoddy training, standards, and maintanence.
