New forum software

Happy boxing day!

Some time in the next 24 hours we're being moved to new forum software. It's going to look and act a bit different but should be fairly intuitive. If you find any faults let us know and we'll pass on to the admin.

 

Will the mobile app still work? That's what I use for posting mostly.

 

A newer version of vBulletin or XenForo?

 

Xenfro I believe, and the mobile app should be unchanged..... hopefully

Does look a lot nicer than the old one if I'm honest.

 

It looks odd, but I'm fairly sure once I get used to it it'll be much better than the old one!
Plus the smilies actually work now!

Bhaji, I think the mobile app is no longer supported, but the new site should be much more mobile friendly.
The mobile app doesn't work at the moment for me.

Also, if anyone knows why some of us have been demoted to "new members", I'd be curious to find out.

 

Yeah. Thankfully it's much more mobile friendly than the previous version.

 

I think the "new member" thing is a side-effect of the transition that lasts until you post and the stats "catch up" with what you've already posted, so to speak - hence why Bhaji is once again showing up as a "well-known member" (ooh er missus).

 

As a barely-known and rarely active member, I'll be interested to see how PLC is classified...

Is the forum still rebuilding indexes? When going to view the list of past posts by myself or anyone else it's only showing once since the completion of the migration

 

Looks good so far viewing from a mobile. The moderator tools are easier And the smileys are easier too

 

I don't like it if i'm honest. The layout seems off. Use a lot of forums so pretty used to all the software on various ones, this doesn't gel for me at all.

I'm sure it has benefits but on the laptop so far, seems like a lot of gloss for no real gain.

 

As we have a new forum layout. Is it worth starting a new background competition? we cant actually see it

 

Being new theres still a lot of tweaking going on with the site. I think the layout will be changed as well soon so it's not so imposing. Will try to keep you all posted

 

Update!

There is a 'test' alternative skin/theme setting which is a bit less in your face. All very testy at the moment though.

Can be found at the bottom of the page where it currently says 'default style'
