Another game and another perplexing performance from Hoilett. The camera shot to Redknapp a couple of times after Junior's usual mess of finishing a move and he was going ape. I've a feeling we won't ever seen him start a game again under Redknapp. He was like a fukking bull.

Can anyone tell me any discernible differences between him and Shaun Phillips?

Hoilett's final ball was awful and immensely frustrating.
He also won the penalty that got us back into the game.

That sums him up perfectly imo.

Describe Hoilett - he's like a Lighthouse in a bog .....brilliant but useless. Still I'd have him ahead of swp any day.

Yep pretty much. His diving won us a penalty. Although I think cheating is destroying the game, I'd clap Hoilett on the back for that one because the big Clubs wouldn't think twice about doing it to us.

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em

(Same for big Ned going down like he'd been shot. Serves them right)

I thought you were proud of the team's performance? Make your mind up. Just seeing Traore staring into the middle distance thinking about his holidays while Sanchez headed in showed how little depth we have and Hoilett is an example of this. That's why Fer plays on the left wing usually, even though he's not a left winger. Our problem today was the usual one - no tactics other than defend desperately until it's too late to change the result. It's ****ing shameful. Hoilett is a sympton of the lack of direction and confidence, not a cause of it.

I am proud of it. I'm also proud of Hoilett even though he's the most frustrating player since Taarabt. He tried his best and ran at people and as COL says, he won us the pen that brought us back into it. He's a good lad and gives his all. Most of them do to be fair.

Do you think Redknapp is giving Hoilett confusing signals when he puts it 20 feet over the bar or over-hits a cross by half a furlong?

Spot-on! As we discussed at the West Brom match, why are so many decent players that join QPR suddenly turned to rubbish, the list is virtually endless. It's like Loftus Road is a 'Quality Black Hole' swallowing up good players and spewing out shyte ones devoid of the basics...

Hoilett has been a victim of our tactics and formations imo.
At home, it's hard to play him, as we are so open in the midfield, playing a central two against most sides' three. Fer plays on the left to compensate for this.
Away from home, our lack of ambition means he rarely starts.

Imo he's be far more effective in a 4-2-3-1 formation, which is what we should always play away from home. I concede that 4-4-2 at home has helped Charlie, so I wouldn't change that, although every game at home with that system is a gamble imo.

I was so excited when hoilett joined but have been so disappointed with his displays & especially his crossing, beating a player & shooting, do we need a better winger yes to do the simple things easy which hoilett can't, so many times tonight we got in good positions & he ****ed it up, I give up with him .

With some decent coaching I think there is a good player inside. He's a confidence type of player and away from home none of our players play with any confidence. I wouldn't get rid of him.

Phillips and SWP on the other hand need to be shown the door.

Yup. Spot on. He just had another one of those games. Hopefully with a bit of coaching he gets his final pass better.

It seems to me that he simply lacks intelligence. Bags of pace and decent ball control but when faced with options he invariably chooses the wrong one. I'm not sure this can be fixed - how do coach for a more agile brain?

Everything I said previously on this thread still applies IMO - works hard, torments defenders and has a significantly lower than average shot / cross success rate.

One for the coaches but could be brilliant if he starts to get it right.

I think he's actually a more right-sided player. His left leg is like a lead weight when he tries to dink a pass with it, but he does fairly well with his right leg.

Think the general concencus in this thread is that he needs to be coached better, and that's something I'd agree with. Also very much a confidence player. Look how much better he was performing when McClaren took him under his wing.

Gets down the line, gets himself into a good position in the box but surely after three years of blazing the ball into row Z, he must know that he cannot shoot a football at the target? Caulker was free on the edge of the box roaring for the pass but instead Toilet did what he always does and almost blasted it out of the Stadium.

He made a good cross to the far stick after that to be fair but knowing his limitations he should always pass when he's through on goal.
